Trust

Exhaustion hit the two as the last of their guests closed the door behind them to the gambling room.

Alone.

They made an effort to tidy.

"That was a good night" O'Boyle said to the boss.

"It's a pity I had to let Denver win."

"You did what?"

Rue said in disbelief.

"Let Denver win,"

O'Boyle said surprised at Rue's disbelief.

"Think about it boss if the house or you win

everyone will think our games are rigged

this way the word of a big winner will spread

and within a week we will have regained our losses."

"But the game was rigged!"

Rue gave out.

"You let Denver win. If that gets out I'll be ruined."

"Only did it the once."

Smiled O'Boyle.

"Trust me you don't have to rig games

to get peoples money

just keep them playing and they're bound to lose."

"Trust you? I don't know if I ever can?"

Rue threw her arms in the air.

"Every time I want to get close to you.

You do something like this.

Am I a fool to think an outlaw can change his spots.

That maybe you can become an honest respectable man.

Someone this town and I can look up to- Someone who—"

"You want to get close to me?"

O'Boyle's heart stopped.

Fury was in her eyes.

Rue stormed up to him grabbed his face and kissed him full on the lips.

Pulled away.

"Yes. you dumb, stupid headed outlaw.

You ever rig a game in my hotel again

I'll hang you from the nearest tree."

He knew she wasn't joking.

He was about to move in when the door opened.

There stood Strop.

Looking mean.

"God damn it!"

O'Boyle turned to Rue.

"I'm sorry for what's about to happen... I'm sorry!"
