I knocked on the door once then let myself in. He was on the bed and his face was pinched together in pain. There was blood on the sheets beneath him.

He turned his head towards me and reached out.

"Jason? Ashlyn?" his voice rasped with lack of hydration.

"They're fine sir." I stood near the door awkwardly not really knowing what to do. "Ashlyn is sleeping in the next bedroom over and Jason is downstairs with the others."

"Good." He tried to sit up on his own, but it was causing him more pain.

"Let me help you sir." I stepped into the room, and grabbed his good shoulder. I pulled him up into a sitting position.

"Thank you." He gwaffed out. He gave me a strange look, probably trying to figure out who I was and where he was at.

Now that it was daylight, I was able to get a good look at him. He looked to be in his mid-forties. He had a greying beard around his chin, and a salt and pepper low fade hair cut. His skin was brown like Ashlyn's but his looked tough like leather. His eyes were a light brown and overall his resemblance to Ashlyn was uncanny.

He attempted to stand up but failed. He was covered in sweat from the strain.

He beckoned with hand for me to come over to him. "Help me to the bathroom, boy."

I nodded and put my arm around his waist and hoisted him into a standing position. From my position I could see his back clearly. The bandages were covered in blood.

Who knows how long he was maybe trying to get to the bathroom alone. He probably broke a stitch.

Slowly we walked out of the room and across the hallway to the bathroom.

He was wearing boxers and a white tank top, so it shouldn't be too hard for him to pee. Jason and Kyle probably did this last night.

I opened the door with my other arm and led him inside.

I walked out, but thought better of it.

"Are you sure you'll be fine, sir?" I looked at him, with my eyebrows raised. In his current state I didn't see him accomplishing his goal.

"I think I can handle this on my own" His jaw was clenched as he stared at me. I nodded.

"There's towels in that cabinet over there for you to wash up with." I pointed to the cabinet behind him. He nodded and I closed the door behind me.

I shook my head and went downstairs. As I entered the living room. I saw Becca and Jason sitting on the pull out bed.

A howl ripped through the air and all heads turned towards the window. I walked over and lifted up the blinds a bit. Outside the wolves were running down the block. It looked like they were finally leaving.

The house shook as they ran. There was no way I was taking that many wolves.

I turned away from the window and towards my present company. Jason had his face in his hands and was bent over while Becca gently rubbed his lower back. He sobbed and I watched in silence. This kid was barely old enough to drive. How old did Ashlyn say he was, 15, 16?

A parent dying was a lot for anyone to take in.

I sat down on the floor directly in front of him. I turned to my left and saw Izzie on the phone in the kitchen while Kyle was eating the breakfast from earlier. There was a mount of cooked food, but no one else had bothered to touch it.
