Ashlyn
I stepped inside the room and almost cried tears of joy when I saw two sleeping figures on my bed. Their chest rising and falling with their breaths. They're alive.
I sighed in relief. The weight on my chest lifted and exhaustion soon set in. It was surprising that I was able to sleep at all in Axel's room. Instead of waking them up, I climbed into bed with them. Making sure not to move the bed too much, but three people fitting in a twin was pushing it. The bed shrieked under the pressure, and I paused. Afraid I might wake them.
After a couple of seconds of them not moving, I assumed that they were still sleep and I proceeded with my mission. I eased into the bed, pushing myself on to the very edge of the mattress. There was clearly not enough space, but that wasn't stopping me today. I mean it was my bed, after all. Izzie was closest to the wall and she and Becca shuffled over with due to my gentle nudging. I snuggled down on my side and reached behind me to pull the cover over the three of us. Becca's arm moved and laid across my waist. I smiled as a peaceful sleep over took me.
---
I awoke to a pillow being slapped against my face. Repeatedly. What the actual hell?
"Ugh, what the heck!" I yelled out sleepily. My eyes were still shut, but I put my hand out to stop my assailant from hitting me again. Hopefully they would stop so I could get a few more hours of sleep.
"Don't you get snarky with us, missy" a shrill voice yelled from behind me. My mind immediately recognized the voice and the events from last night came rushing to me.
I opened my eyes wide and turned around to see Becca and Izzie propping themselves up from their sleeping positions.
"I'm so happy you guys aren't dead!" I blurted out, unable to say anything else. My mind overdriven with joy.
"Ash, what happened to you last night?" Izzie had her mom voice on so I knew I was in for it now.
"One minute you were grinding with McSteamy and the next you disappeared and everyone was screaming and running away from wolves." Her voice was losing it's composure as she spoke.
Becca nodded in agreement. It was obvious that I had worried them, but it wasn't my fault. Mcsteamy wouldn't let me go back and look for them. I felt like pouting at the thought.
"Yeah Ash, that wasn't cool." Becca's normally silky straight black hair was frizzy and tangled framing her face like a halo. "These wolf attacks are real. We could have all died last night, and you being God knows where was not helpful. We stick together. "
Becca was right. These werewolf attacks are serious and are becoming more fatal too. I cringed just thinking about what happened in New York. The worst part about it all was that no one knew where the wolves were coming from. Scientist have been trying to pacify the masses with their ideas of what they think this is causing these wolves to attack, but their theories just don't seem to add up.
At first when the attacks started happening, they were only at night, so there were curfews put into place. Then the attacks started happening during the day, so that ruled out the night theory. After that they started attacking large public places, like concerts and parties, so people started staying in. Then the attacks started occurring in random suburban neighbourhoods. It's as if the wolves are saying that we aren't safe anywhere. All over the freaking country there have been random wolf attacks.
Some say that the wolves were some government project gone wrong. Other's say that it's because of all the pollution and changes the earth is going through. That the animals are changing too. Mutation, if you will. While some theories are more believable than others. When it comes down to it, we still don't know why these attacks are happening or when they will happen. The craziest thing about these attacks is that the wolves pop up out of nowhere, you could just be walking down the street and everything seems fine, but then you look behind you and there's a giant wolf. There are also no wolf tracks when they leave, after the attack they just.... disappear.
