The next morning, they were met with silence. Silence from the wildlife and silence from each other. Everyone quietly packed their things and moved out. Everyone except for my Dad, who after getting so much rest and sleep was feeling better than ever.

Izzie decided to ignore Becca, while Becca looked at Izzie with this strange need for approval. The whole thing was a drag.

I decided that for this walk I would stick next to my Dad and Axel. There was no need for me to get in between Izzie and Becca's feud. Dad opted out of the medicine today and was a chatty Cathy today. He also decided to walk today. He said he was tired of piggybacking. While on the other hand, I would have loved to piggy-back on Axel. My legs were killing me and I was dying for a cuddle... among other things to take my mind off of the current situation.

"So honey, now that we have this time. Why don't you tell me a bit about school? I'm sure being a biology major has some interesting stories."

I sighed and looked to Axel's back longingly.

"Sure, Dad." I launched into the speech, that I reserve for family gathering all about my college life.

After another hour of walking, we came across five boulders lined up together. Overgrown grass sprouted out from everywhere. Everything about this place screamed 'wild.' Even the air seemed to hold a different vibe. Almost as if it was alive.

"Let's stop here." Kathleen turned around to face us. "So, we are about 3 and 1/2 miles from the pack. It should take us about 45 minutes to walk it at our pace." She looked annoyed as she said the last part.

Sorry, we can't all be supernatural werewolves that could run this in 15 minutes.

I was not in a good mood and her little jabs were like little stings by a mosquito and pretty soon I was going to start swatting.

I walked to the nearest boulder and collapsed. Axel sat down right next to me.

I lover to him. I wonder if he would allow for me to sit on him the rest of the way. I don't know why I was hesitating so much, but I needed to work up the courage. I took a sip of water and glanced over the next boulder and saw Izzie, Kyle, Jason and Kathleen chatting.

Becca was alone staring at the ground. She looked pitiful. I got off the boulder with the intent to go over to her, but Kathleen's voice halted me.

"Let's move out. It's a straight shot from here." Everyone got up and began to walk.

I paused and looked over to Axel. Everyone started moving forward, even my Dad. I guess he wanted to spend the second half with Jason.

I grabbed Axel's fur. He looked down at me, his large silvery eyes questioning my intentions. I motioned for him to bend down. He looked amused but obliged me. Once I was eye level with her enormous ears, I whispered, "Um, do you think I could, um, ride on your back?"

I ready for him to roll his eyes at my request and walk away, but instead he let a big wolfy laugh. He laid down on the ground and gestured with his head for me to get on. I wanted to jump for By now we were a little behind everyone, but I was sure with Axel's speed we could catch up.

I slid one leg across Axels back and then righted myself on top. He was warm and very furry. His fur was tickling and pinching the skin between my thighs, making feel a little itchy. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.

I was about to tell him that it was okay, but he got up from his sitting position and I was immediately scared shitless form the distance between myself and ground. There was no way my Dad could have done this without the drugs.
