Ashlyn

We set out early the next morning.

Kathleen decided to drive since, Axel was going to have to let my dad lay on him during the journey to the pack lands. Axel sat  in the passenger seat. I stared at him not knowing, how to feel. There was always this intense pull, but there was also resentment growing. I didn't know if it was towards him, or this crazy situation we seemed to have gotten ourselves in.

Getting my Dad into a comfortable position in the car was not easy by far, but we were able to do it.

The wolves had hit the area pretty badly. Windows were busted, cars abandoned by the side of roads and blood caked on the concrete. It wasn't a pretty sight. The werewolves seemed to have their fill of chaos for the moment, today there were no wolves in sight, anyway. It was almost like they vanished. I'm sure it was just apart of their psychotic plan and they will be back.

For now our plan was to cover as much distance as we can. Hopefully we could get to this pack without spotting another werewolf.

With the wolves gone, the roads were a mess. People were driving worse normal, which is saying a lot for Florida drivers. Kathleen nearly pulled the car over, to cuss out one driver. Axel had to hold her back.

Everyone was trying to get out of dodge, too bad there was really where no safe spaces from werewolves. They were our next door neighbors, our coworkers, and everything in between. There was really no way for us to know who was on unless we were werewolves.

On the news this morning the President was announcing evacuations for the places hit the worst. He also talked about a new plan to get rid of the overpopulation of wolves. They had a couple scientist come on and talk about how these aren't normal wolves, and how due to pollution and other environmental factors the wolves have mutated and became aggressive. Pfft, they knew nothing.

This was not something that anyone could control. At least not anyone human. My eyes went to Axel as the thought went through my head. A werewolf.

The news of what he was still baffled me, tingly feelings aside, this relationship was a lot more than I bargained for.

This new information was hard for me to wrap my mind around. The guy that I've been crushing on for nearly 3 months turned out to be a freaking werewolf, and expects for me to drop all of my life goals and ambitions to become the Luna of this pack that I didn't even know existed before a couple days ago.

The more time I got to think about my future responsibilities the more angry I got. My mother was just killed by werewolves and I don't even have the proper time to mourn because of these attacks.

We past by a Publix and the windows were busted out. People we spilling out of the openings like roaches, with water and whatever else they could fit into their hands. I had to look away.

This is what werewolves do, they cause chaos. Now, I'm expected to be friendly with them. There were probably members in Axel's pack who felt the same as the The Doctor, but just haven't had the confidence to voice their opinions yet.

I wonder if Axel ever felt this way about humans before. Axel's eyes meet mine in the rear-view mirror and I look away.

It was like I was in the Twilight zone or something. Werewolves taking over the country. Mated to an Alpha werewolf. The thoughts swirled in my mind as we reached a pit stop.

"Hellooooo" a chipper voice pulled me from my thoughts. "Earth to Ashlyn" I looked up and saw Izzie to the left of me with a quizzical look her hand waving back and forth in front of my face.
