Dipper couldn't hold it in; he snorted in total amusement at how naive the all-knowing Bill Cipher sounded. Mabel tried to suppress a giggle, but failed miserably as it turned in to an all out fit of laughter.

"What?" Bill asked, truly confused as to what was so funny.

"For someone all-knowing you really don't get it. Do you really think we'll just trust you like that?" Dipper asked, snapping his fingers.

Bill looked between the two siblings, unsure of what to say next. His gaze fell on Mabel, who was still laughing, and his eye narrowed in annoyance.

"Hey don't look at me! I'm just laughing at that snort Dipper made." She said between giggles. "He sounded like Waddles!"

"Hey!" Her brother shouted.

This just caused Mabel to laugh even harder. Bill could feel the mood lighten, even with Dipper's glare towards Mabel.

"What do you guys say?" The triangle asked suddenly. "Will you help?"

"You never told us what we're supposedly helping with." Dipper pointed out.

"I don't have to tell you what I'm planning Pine Tree." Bill hissed, sounding quite snappy again.

Dipper and Mabel's faces both fell into frowns and Mabel's laughter ceased.

"Then good luck getting our help." Mabel said.

"Ok, ok. So I have this friend who's trapped somewhere..." Bill began.

"You have a friend? The evil triangle guy has a friend?" Mabel asked, cutting Bill off.

"Mabel cut it out!" Dipper hissed, noticing Bill's body began to take on a reddish tint. "Continue Bill." He said respectfully.

"Like I was saying, I have a friend that's trapped. I need to help him but to do so I need all three Journals, and that little thing I requested in our deal Pine Tree." Bill said, calming down and staying his normal golden color.

"What thing from what deal? Dipper!" Mabel exclaimed.

Dipper's cheeks flushed with nervousness. His eyes darted to Bill who shrugged. Dipper's eyes then found Mabel's face, and the glare that it bore.

"It's a long story." Dipper finally blurted out.

"So, what do you guys think? Can I count on you to help me out?" Bill asked, almost pleadingly.

"Will we be getting the Journals back?" Dipper asked.

"Well you see, the spell requires that I burn them..." Bill said.

"This honestly sounds like you're just trying to trick us so you can destroy the Journals." Mabel pointed out.

Dipper nodded in agreement. Neither of the Pines twins were going to fall for silly little tricks again. They had both had enough of those. Bill couldn't be trusted, they both knew that. And judging by what it said in Journal 3, the author had known it too, and it had cost him. Dipper and Mabel were going to take things slow and steady; the last thing either of them wanted was to fall into one of Bill's traps.

Bill was exasperated beyond belief at this point. He supposed this was his own fault, considering everything he had put the twins through. The triangle wouldn't even trust himself if he was in their place, and that was saying something. Bill was completely unpredictable, doing things sometimes that he never even planned on doing. Sometimes things just came together and, well, happened. But this time, there were no tricks; Bill genuinely needed Dipper and Mabel's help with something. He had even told them the whole truth, sort of. He had left out only one minor detail. It was nothing huge, just one little detail that didn't need to be said for them to understand the situation.

"Look, Shooting Star, the only reason I ever needed to destroy the Journals was to keep you saf- uh, I mean to keep you from figuring out answers." Bill said, catching himself.

The triangle had told himself he wasn't going to care what happened to the twins any more, but boy did that work out. Caring! It was ridiculous! Bill hated that he actually CARED about someone else, and they were humans! Fleshy, meaty, skin and bone humans. All they were good for was giving Bill plenty of heads to mess with; except Dipper and Mabel Pines. Oh, but there was something ever so peculiar about them that kept drawing Bill back.

Dipper and Mabel shared a look. They could pretty much figure out what Bill had been about to say. But there was still the big question at hand: could they trust him? The answer was obviously no. But maybe just this once...

"Alright Bill. We'll help, on two conditions." Dipper said finally.

Mabel gave her brother an encouraging nod. It was as if the twins had read each other's thoughts and were in total agreement.

"First," Dipper began, "you'll let us copy the Journals. You can use the originals for whatever it is you have to do, be we want copies. Second, you have to give us your word..."

Dipper paused for a minute, thinking. He was going to need much more than Bill's word for this deal.

"And... Your powers!" Dipper exclaimed triumphantly. "You have to swear on your powers and give us your word that you won't trick us and will leave us alone once this deal is over."

"Good one bro!" Mabel agreed.

Bill eyed the twins carefully. Dipper would want something more than his word, and his powers were not something Bill wanted to lose. However, could the kid even take his powers? Probably not...

"Ha! And how would you take away my powers anyway?" Bill asked smugly.

"I know there's got to be a spell or something. There's a spell for everything in this town." Dipper said.

Bill contemplated Dipper's words. The kid had a point. Who knows if there was a spell for that. One thing was for sure though, Bill didn't want to find out.

"Alright Pine Tree. You got yourself a deal." Bill said, holding out two flaming hands.

Dipper and Mabel each took one of Bill's hands and shook them. The deal was now permanent.

"Well then, I guess you two have a Journal to find. I'll check up on you two periodically and may even join you every so often. See ya in your nightmares kids! And remember, I'll be watching you!" Bill said, and then disappeared.
