Mabel woke up to sun streaming through the triangle-shaped window of her and Dipper's room. Dipper. Mabel glanced over to her twin's bed where Dipper was sleeping soundly. It felt so good to have him back with her.

Getting out of bed, she took a peek at the clock and realized it was already almost noon. It was a good thing Soos hadn't actually lost some tools that needed to be found before the Shack opened for the day. But then Mabel remembered her promise to Stan. She had to work four days for free that week in return for Stan making the fake Journal cover. Face-palming, Mabel went downstairs to get something to eat.

Considering it was almost lunchtime, Mabel decided to just skip breakfast and made herself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, as well as a glass of Mabel Juice. As she gulped down her food and drink, Mabel listened to the excited 'oohs' and 'ahs' of the group of people Stan must be touring. She could here calm chit-chat coming from the gift shop.

Putting her dishes in the sink, Mabel ran back upstairs to get dressed. Dipper was still sleeping so she was careful to be quiet. After finishing all the necessitates of getting ready for the day, Mabel ran back downstairs and into the gift shop. Wendy was behind the register, reading a magazine, while men, women, and children browsed the fake, strange, and just plain weird merchandise that the Mystery Shack had to offer. Soos was re-stocking a shelf with some odd figurine that looked like a cross between a double headed duck and a deer. Mabel had no idea where Stan came up with these ideas, and had no idea why anyone ever bought some of the ridiculous merchandise sometimes.

"And that's the end of our tour folks! Please take some time to browse our gift shop. It's filled with just as many wonders as the tour was. Hopefully you find something you like because you can't leave until you buy something." Stan said in a jolly voice as he led a group of tourists, who had just finished their tour, into the gift shop.

Stan laughed evilly, getting laughs from some of the adults who thought he was kidding. Mabel, however, knew otherwise. Some of the children were frightened by the statement, but were reassured when their parents promised to buy them some little knick-knack.

"Mabel!" Stan called, noticing her standing there.

Mabel walked over to her great-uncle, weaving her way through the groups of people that clustered around the gift shop.

"Hey Grunkle Stan."

"Hey kiddo. Where have you and your brother been all this morning? I could've used some extra hands today. I mean, look at this crowd!" Stan gestured proudly to the large mass of people.

"Sorry Grunkle Stan, but we were sleeping."

"You really didn't sleep much last week, did you? Why is that; what's going on Mabel?"

"Uh... Well you see... I..."

"Hey Mabel. Hey Grunkle Stan." Dipper said sleepily, yawning and rubbing one of his eyes.

"Dipper! I was just telling your sister how I could've used your help today! Hey wait a minute, weren't you two supposed to help Soos with something this morning?" Stan said, suddenly recalling what the twins had told him the night before.

"Oh! Well you see Grunkle Stan, Soos had us help before he left last night instead. That way we wouldn't have to get up so early today." Mabel lied.

"Alright then. Well, Mabel, I want you up bright and early to help me in the gift shop tomorrow. You promised, remember?" Stan said.

"I remember." Mabel admitted.

"Good. But today, you two go have some fun. No chores or cleaning."

"Really Grunkle Stan?" Mabel exclaimed.

Dipper opened his mouth to speak but was cut off abruptly.

"Dipper don't even ask if there's a catch. Just go do something before I change my mind." Stan said, waving the kids off and walking over to Wendy at the register.

The twins escaped back into the house through the gift shop door. The 'Employees Only' sign flopped against the door as it slammed shut behind them.

"Uh lying! It feels so icky!" Mabel said, shuddering. "How does Grunkle Stan do it?"

The female Pines twin wasn't exactly looking for an answer, but she wouldn't have minded if she had gotten one. Following her brother to the kitchen, Mabel began to ponder just how they would find Journal 1. Dipper seemed to be thinking the same thing because he sat down quietly at the kitchen table and stared out the window, deep in thought. Mabel sat across from him.

"Are you sure you didn't find anything that could help us in Journal 2 last week?" Dipper asked.

"Yeah."

After that, both twins fell silent again. They had never been in a situation where they truly didn't know what to do, with the exception of the time Gideon Gleeful stole the deed to the Mystery Shack. Dipper and Mabel weren't sure what to do next, so they hoped that a certain Dream Demon would have some ideas...
