-The Phoenix Angel

Mabel stared dumbfoundedly at the spot where Bill had disappeared with her twin. She bent down slowly to pick up Dipper's hat, which had fallen off during their tug of war match with his body. Mabel flopped on her bed, staring at the ceiling with Dipper's hat sitting on her chest. Then the tears came.

They started slowly, and then picked up speed. Fat, salty, drops of water raced from Mabel's eyes and down her cheeks. How was she supposed to find the Journal? She could barely stay focused on a serious task for five minutes! Besides, Dipper was the adventorous, mystery solving twin; not her. Mabel did enjoy a good puzzle or adventure, but not nearly as much as Dipper. And now Dipper wasn't here; she was on her own.

Bill looked down on Mabel from the Mindscape, wondering about her. She had only one week to save her brother and she was sitting there crying. Heck, the time didn't truly start until midnight, but if Bill was in her place, he would've gotten a jump start.

A small banging sound brought Bill out of his thoughts. The demon's eye traveled to the hour glass in his hand. Dipper was still knocking on the glass furiously and attemptimg to shout things.

"What's that Pine Tree?" Bill teased. "I can't hear you in there."

A tiny Dipper glared back at Bill through the hour glass. If Bill had a mouth, he'd be smirking at the enraged kid. Bill flicked the outside of the glass where Dipper's face was. Dipper flinched in surprise and tripped backwards. When he regained his footing, he began banging on the glass and shouting again.

"I already told you I can't hear you." Bill said with a role of his eye. "Why don't you take a nap? Then we can talk properly."

Bill snapped his fingers and Dipper's eyes began to droop. Dipper sat down, and then eventually laid down, his eyes closing completely. As soon as he was asleep, Bill entered Dipper's dreams.

"WHAT THE HECK MAN! WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME!?" Dipper yelled, as soon as the demonic triangle appeared inside his head.

Bill was expecting an outburst. The Dream Demon had plenty of experience with enraged humans after they had been tricked, captured, etc.

"Listen kid, I know you're mad..."

"MAD!? MAD DOESN'T EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE IT!"

"Ok then. You're furious. You good with that? Does furious work for you?" Bill asked.

Dipper just glared at him.

"Well I'm gonna go with furious then. Anyway, like I said to your sister, I need us on the same side... For now anyway."

"Why on Earth would you need OUR help?" Dipper scoffed.

"To find the Journals! Seriously Pine Tree, I thought you were smarter than this."

Dipper's face reddened with anger. He was losing his patience with the demon. All he wanted was answers, and Bill was diliberately doing everything EXCEPT giving Dipper answers.

"Bill, for once in your life, tell me what you're planning, and what's going on."

"You really want to know, don't you kid?" Bill said smugly.

"YES! THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO TELL YOU!"

"Yeesh kid relax! Or are we having a screaming war? If we are, I can assure you I can be MUCH LOUDER!" The triangle said in a booming voice.

Bill laughed as Dipper covered his ears.

"Seriously man are you going to tell me or not?" Dipper asked.

"Fine. I suppose you do deserve SOME answers..." Bill said thoughtfully. "So you can probably guess why I want the Journals."

"To destroy them."

"Ding ding! We have a winner!"

Dipper rolled his eyes at the triangle's comment.

"Anyway, I need you and your sister to help me find the Journals, especially with me being trapped in the Mindscape without a vessel."

"Why would we ever help you?"

"I was getting to that. See Pine Tree, I think my plans through." Bill said, tapping the side of what could be presumed as his head.

Dipper found himself rolling his eyes again.

"Anyway, I knew you two wouldn't help me willingly so I had to come up with a new strategy. Obviously possession was getting me nowhere without having to yell at, threaten, or speak to you."

"Yeah thanks for all that by the way." Dipper said sarcastically.

"No problem kid! As I was saying, I figured trapping one of you and saying you'd be dead in a week would be motivational enough." Bill finished.

"So, I'm not actually going to die in a week?"

"No you are; unless your sister finds me that Journal."

"WHAT!? But Bill! We never had any idea where Journal One could be! And you didn't even leave Mabel with one of the Journals to look through for possible hiding places! And a week!? How is anyone supposed to find that Journal in a week!? I probably couldn't!"

Dipper just went on, and on, and on. Bill started to get bored and waved a hand in front of where his mouth probably would've been, pretending he was yawning. Dipper noticed the motion and shut his mouth.

"I don't complain when you ramble." Dipper pointed out.

"Who said anything about complaining? I'm just acting bored."

"Whatever. But seriously man, you have to help Mabel out SOME HOW! Just give her one of the Journals! Or more time or something!" Dipper pleaded.

Bill began to get a fantastically evil idea. The truth was, he didn't want the kid to die, nor did he really want the Journals destroyed. The demon needed the three books for a special project he was working on. Also, he was starting to like the kid's persistence, and he was very smart and very useful. Bill could have more uses for him in the future. And seeing the kid looked desperate...

"Alright. I'll help your sister out..." Bill began.

Dipper's face lit up in a smile.

"Buuuuut!"

Dipper's face quickly fell again.

"You have to make a deal."
