The twins just stood and stared, in what they couldn't quite decide if it was horror or amazement, at their great uncle. All this time, literally right under their noses, had been one of the biggest secrets the Journals held. All this time, Stan had known about it. All this time, Journal 1 was right in their own house, and that's what made Mabel's blood boil.

"So when Dipper was held captive by Bill and could've died and the only thing that could've saved him was this Journal," Mabel said, the shock falling away and being replaced by fury, "you would've rather let my brother die than sacrifice everything you worked for!?"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Kid, what are you talking about?" Stan asked.

"Dipper was never on a camping trip! An evil, psychotic, triangle took him and gave me one week to find Journal 1 or Dipper would die!" Mabel raged.

"Look, kid, I didn't know that was-"

"NO! NO, JUST NO!" Mabel yelled, tears beginning to fall down her face.

"Mabel, Mabel! Calm down! I'm ok now! That's all that matters." Dipper soothed, hugging his twin.

Stan was standing before them, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

"Kid, listen, if I had known the truth, of course I would've given you the Journal! It's not worth your brother's life." Stan said.

Dipper gave his great-uncle a sad smile of thanks, before pulling Mabel closer and rubbing circles on her back. Mabel's sobs soon began to diminish, but she wouldn't let go of her brother, as if she thought losing her hold on him would cause Dipper to disappear again.

"Grunkle Stan, do you know who Bill Cipher is?" Dipper asked.

Stan hesitantly looked at the ground before meeting his great-nephew's eyes. The kids knew enough at this point; it was time to be honest.

"Yes; I'm very well aware of that demonic dorito's existence."

Mabel giggled at Stan's insult as she pulled her head away from Dipper's chest. Her face was tear streaked and her eyes were bloodshot, but she was smiling again. The female Pines twin finally loosened her grip on her brother.

"Grunkle Stan, we were in the woods earlier today and-" Dipper began.

"Yeah, that reminds me. Why were you two out so late?" Stan questioned.

"Uh, getting to that. You see, we may or may not have tried to... You know let's skip this part it's not important. Anyway, this symbol, that looked just like your portal thing, showed up on the ground and these time traveler's showed up. Long story short, they chased us through the forest, trying to kill us." Dipper said.

Stan raised an eyebrow. Time travelers? That was new, even for a town like Gravity Falls.

"Why were they after you?"
