Michael.

"Bye kitten, I love you." I whisper softly, pacing a kiss on his temple as he sleeps. I then walk into April's room and do the same. It was the first day of my job and I am scared shitless. I have never worked a day in my life, I never needed to. There was nothing that I even wanted to do. Working at a car dealership was the only good-paying job I could find. Especially for someone who barely got their high school diploma.

What do you even do at a car dealership? Like I literally have no clue...I don't even understand how I got this job, I know nothing about cars.

As I drive to the dealership I wonder what it will be like...will I be selling cars? Working behind a desk? Cleaning the bathrooms? I am actually getting pretty nervous...I need this job. What if I do something stupid and get fired my first day? This is all i have to support my family, and now April is going to this fancy ballet school. She begged and begged, neither of us could say no to her...lets just say it's almost as expensive as college. I have no idea how expensive it is, I'm just guessing it would probably be this expensive.

And who the hell wakes up at five in the morning to go to a dealership? I don't know a single person who buys a car before the sun even comes up. Which also makes me super nervous...I mean, is there really that much to do? Do we really need to open our doors at 5:30 just to keep up? Or is it a 'just in case' thing?

God I am so clueless.

I can barley drive a car, let alone sell one. But I don't even know if I will be selling them, don't you need a college degree for that or something? I don't even know anymore. All I know is that I'm nervous as hell and I wish I could get out of this, just turn around and go back to sleep. Cuddle up with Luke and eat breakfast with April.

I just have a terrible feeling that I will miss out on everything. I mean, I'm stuck here and they are both at home probably having a great time. Memories will happen without me, and she will grow closer to Luke. Luke will be the one that's always there for her. I don't want it to be that way. I don't want to leave them to come here everyday.

Okay, so maybe I'm over exaggerating a little bit.

But still, it could happen.

Plus, I have heard that work sucks ass. I don't want to be forced to leave everyday and come here and be miserable. I pull into the employee parking lot, my hands slightly shaking. I take a deep breath and quickly get out, heading to the front doors. As soon as I walk in the manager greets me, as if he was just standing around waiting for me.

"Ah, you must be Michael. I'm Robert, we talked over the phone." he says, extending his hand.

"Uh, yeah. It's nice to meet you." I say, shaking his hand. It was cold, yet sweaty. He looked like the typical douche bag honestly. His hair was fluffy and styles, he wore an expensive gold watch and he had on a white button up shirt with a red tie. The name tag pinned to his chest read MANAGER. He gave me a fake smile, with his too white teeth.

"So Michael, I'm guessing you would probably like to know what your occupation will be here, am I right?" he chuckled.

I only nodded, beyond annoyed with the man standing in front of me.

"Well, I'll tell ya Michael," he began leading me towards the back, where a woman was sitting at a desk, not much older than me, "you will work back here with um, Margret." he gestures to the girl.

"It's Maggie." she says coldly.

"Anyway, Margo here will be showing you the ropes. I'll leave you two to it. Have fun Mitchell." he pats me on the back.

"Uh, my name is Michael." I say before he rushes away.

"Oh he knows your name." Maggie says.

"But he ju-"

"I know, he does that to make you feel less important than him, It just makes him feel good about himself." she huffs. "So anyway, I'm Maggie. We basically just sit here and answer phones. And we honestly don't get alot of them, so mostly I just sit here, sifting through pinterest or playing games. We have an hour for lunch at one and we leave at six." she bluntly tells me, never taking her eyes off of the computer."

I just sit down at the computer next to her. "What if I don't know an answer to there question or something?" She reaches under her desk and slams down a huge book. Well, more like a manual.

"Then you look it up."

We sat in silence the rest of the morning. I was playing some lame computer games while she scrolled through social media sites. The phone only rang once and the lady just asked what time we closed. Maggie finally spoke to me when it was one o'clock.

"So, you wanna go get something to eat?" she asked.

"Um, sure."

"You gotta car?"

"Yeah, don't you."

"Nope. I take the bus." she said before grabbing her bag and walking to the front doors with me trailing behind. She stopped once we got to the parking lot and I showed her to my car. We ended up driving to Wendy's. We ate in the car, I thought it would be silent but she decided to start a conversation.

"So, you got a girlfriend?"

"Well I'm married." I say flashing her the hand with my ring on it.

"Engaged." she said, also showing me her hand. "Wht's her name?"

"Well, his name is Luke."

"Oh, well then I guess that rules out my next question." she smiles.

"Which was?"

"I was gonna ask if you had any kids."

"April."

"What?"

"I have a 5 year old daughter named April. We adopted her a few months ago." I say proudly.

"That's awesome dude." she grins, eating a fry.

I learned that we actually had more in common than I though. She was onlt a year older than me and she likes all the same music I do. Her fiance is in the airforce and he is supposed to be coming home in 8 months. We had about sixty seconds to spare when we arrived back at work. Then the rest of the day was just like the morning. Only a few people called.

Work was better than expected.

It was 6:30 by the time I got home. I walked through the door to find Luke and Calum playing video games while Kat sat on the couch, April sitting between her legs. Jonathan was sleeping in his carrier next to Kat as she finished putting April's hair into a bun. Luke jumped up as soon as he heard the door close.

"Hey Mikey!" he happily said, kissing me. April squealed and rushed over to me.

"Fairy look! Kat made me look like a ballerina!" she exclaimed as I picked her up.

"Oh look at you sweetie! You look so pretty!" I smiled, pecking her cheek.

"I tried to get that bun for almost an hour, so I kinda had to call Kat to help." Luke blushed. "She really needs to teach me, I'm gonna have to do it everyday once she starts school."

"Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it. Plus you got the best teacher." Kat jokes.

"Hey man," Calum says, "how was work?"

"Actually it was good, really good."
