Chapter 16

I wake up to hear yelling in the kitchen. I walk out of my room as quiet as I can and hear Jackson screaming at someone. I walk in thinking of anything I'll run or fight back. I walk in to see him on the phone. I give him a questioning look and he sticks his finger in the air saying to wait. As I'm waiting I pour myself some coffee to wake myself. "FINE" Jackson screams before ending the call. "Hey calm down. What's going on?" I ask trying to calm down Jackson before he has a panic attack. "He's coming" He says looking at me. "Who?" I ask hoping it's not who I think it is. "Tony. Who else gets me riled up like this?" He said screaming again. I've never seen Jackson this upset but I don't blame even thinking about having Tony here makes me want to leave. "How long?" I ask looking at him. "A week" he says putting his hands in his hair in frustration. "That's not too long. Why is he coming down?" I ask hoping it's not about what I think it's about. "He wants to "visit" apparently " he says but I know what he is actually saying. "Look if you want me to deal with him, I will. I know your relationship with your brother and he can stay with me for the week. I'll talk to Ryder" I say while rubbing his back. "No. This is my battle. I'll deal with him but thanks I appreciate it." He says smiling at me. "Always. I'll come and help make sure things don't go south if you want. When is he coming?" I ask. "3 days and you don't have to" he says then starts biting his bottom lip. "But I'm going to because I don't need to have two beat up and bruised cousins to deal with" I say trying to lighten up the mood. "Okay. Thanks cuz. You don't understand how much this means to me" He says giving me a hug. "Always And forever, idiot" I say while hugging him back.

I left Jackson's about a hour ago and now I'm sitting in my room planning everything I need to deal with Tony. Me and Jackson decided I would stay there for the week to keep the 2 from ripping each other's heads off. I still haven't seen Ryder and I should probably tell him I won't be here for the week. Speak of the devil and he shall appear. I hear the door open and footsteps heading towards my room. Then I hear a knock. "Come in" I say while I continue to stair at the ceiling. "Hey. You got a minute?" He asks. "Yeah. Actually I need to talk to you about something too" I say while sitting up. "Okay. Let me start. I think that we should keep the gang out of our roommate relationship. Like when we are here it's a gang free environment unless we need to talk about it" he finishes. "I totally agree." I say shaking my head. "Okay great. What did you have to say?" He asks. "Okay well I can't go into detail about it but Jackson has a family member coming over for the next week and I told him I would stay with him to make sure everything goes okay. So I will be staying over there for a week starting Thursday" I say. "Okay but can I ask you something?" He says with an emotion I can't read. "Sure" I say while watching him very carefully. "Is this family member Tony?" He asks looking at me. I nod my head slowly. "How do you know about Tony?" I ask wondering if Jackson told him about Tony. "I was the one to help him out last visit" he says looking down. "Oh" knowing already what happened. "Do you think you can handle Tony?" He asks. "I did for years while we were still in Kentucky" I say trying to convince myself more than him. "Okay but if things start going downhill I want you to call me immediately understood?" He says looking me straight in the eyes. "Yeah I will" I say taking in his tone. "Okay. I'll leave you now. If you need me I'll be in the living room watching tv" he says standing up. "Aye aye captain" I say trying to lighten the mood. He rolls his eyes and says "nice joke, Princess" he says while leaving my room.

After Ryder left one thought kept running through my mind. Why do I have butterflies every time I talk to Ryder?
