Chapter 43

I got discharged from the hospital and Jackson is driving me home. I haven't been to the apartment in weeks it feels like. I walk in and I'm in complete darkness. I turn the lights on and people jump out. Someone jumps in front of me and I punch them. I look down and see Joey on the floor with a bloody nose. "Oh my gosh, Joey. I'm so sorry. It was just instinct" I say helping him up. "It's okay. I should have seen it coming" He says with Keith walking him to the bathroom to clean him up. Everyone starts snickering until I glare at them to stop. "Okay, now that I have violently harmed one of my friends. What is happening?" I ask all the people in my apartment.

"It's a welcome back party. We thought you would like it since you have been stuck in the hospital and everything else that's happened lately" Vanessa says rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly. I smile at them and they all visibly relax. I chuckle "Thank you guys. I really appreciate it" I say walking over and hugging the girls. "As much as we would like to take credit for this it wasn't our idea" they say side eying each other while smirking. I give them a confused look "then who's idea was it?" I ask. "Go to your room and find out" is all Morgan says before walking off to Cole. I turn to ask Vanessa but she is already with Jackson. I roll my eyes and head to my room.

I walk in and see rose petals on the floor. I walk in suspiciously and look around every corner. I look on my bed and see a note. I read it and it says "Hey princess, I know this is probably super cliche but I wanted to try it out. I know we haven't talked since you woke up but I'm just a little scared you would push me away because of what I said but I'm tired of running. I'm ready to own up to my feelings. So turn around." I look at the letter confused and turn around to see a smiling Ryder. "Hey princess" he says handing me a box. "Hi?" I give him a questioning look. "Just open the box" he says pushing the box towards me. I sit on my bed with Ryder next to me. I open the box and see a ring. I look at him confused and he smiles and grabs the ring "read the engraving" is all he says before handing me the ring again. I read the the engraving and it says "I love you princess" I smile to myself and notice Ryder smiling too. "It's beautiful" I say still holding the ring. "So why aren't you putting it on" he says frowning. "Oh" and with that I slip the ring on and he starts to smile again. We just look into each other eyes and sit in comfortable silence.

He starts leaning in and I do too. His lips skim mine and I feel the butterflies erupt in my stomach. He finally smashes his lips into mine and I kiss him back. He cups my face with both his hands while my arms go around his neck. We pull away and lay our foreheads together. We both have this toothy grin. "I love you and I know you don't do love and all but I want you to know that-" I cut him off with another kiss. I pull away and smile at his confused look "I love you too" and his face goes into shock then he pulls this toothy grin and tackles me into a hug. We fall back on my bed and I can't help but laugh.

"So what now?" I ask not sure what happens after this. "I got this." Is all he says before pulling me up so we are both standing. He goes to the closet and grabs a captain's hat. Oh my lord who knew a little SpongeBob joke would be taken this serious. He bends down on one knee and holds the hat out and says "Chloe Martin will you do me the honor of being this lonely captain's mate. In English will you be my girlfriend?" I stare at him with confusion but can't help but breaking out into fits of giggles. He looks confused at my reaction which makes me laugh even more. Before he can pout I grab the hat and put it on my head and reply to his question "I'd love to be your girlfriend,captain" I say with a big smile. I don't think I've smiled this much in a long time. He pulls me into another hug and spins me around. I can't help but let out a squeal and laugh at him. He puts me down and gives me a kiss. This kiss isn't like the others this one was slow and full of love. We pull apart and he says the three words. "I love you" I smile up at him and say "I love you too". Who knew all I needed was redo in my life to be happy.
