Chapter 41

RYDER'S POV
We have all been calming down Delilah while Jackson called the police and an ambulance. Tony came in without Chloe. "Where is she?" I ask voicing all our thoughts. "She refused to leave Kyle when he found out but made me come check on y'all" he says. "I'm going to get her since you left her with the psychopath who kidnapped her" I say storming off after her. Maybe I should have asked where she was.

I keep walking until I going back to where we came from. I hear voices and assume I'm going the right way. I hear a gunshot go off and I go tense and start running towards the sound "CHLOE" I scream while running towards her. I get there and see Kyle above her with a gun. He looks shocked but I don't care he still shot her. I punched him in the face so hard I think he passed out but I need to check on Chloe right now. I pick her up a bit so her head is in my lap. I see her squinting her eyes trying to make out who it is. "Stay with me Chloe" I say with tears streaming down my face. "Aye aye captain" is the last thing she says before she closes her eyes.

I pick her up bridal style and run outside to where I hear the ambulance. Everyone else is out there already and looked worried when they see Chloe in my arms. I hand her to a paramedic "She was shot. She needs help now" I say with urgency. "Yes sir but only family can ride in the ambulance" he says and I look for Tony or Jackson. Jackson nods and hops in the ambulance. "We'll meet you there" I say while turning to the rest of the group. Before anyone can say anything a police officer walks up to us. "What happened here and who shot these people" he says eying us all suspiciously. Kaleb steps up and says "I can explain but first we need to get my step-brother since I know he'll escape and he is the one who shot Chloe" we all look shocked. "Lead me to him" he nods but before turning to the cop turns to us "Go make sure she's okay. Me and mom will come after we fix everything" and with that he leaves.

I drove with Tony to the hospital. We called Chloe's grandma and she is on her way with the girls. I haven't spoke a word since we left. All I can think about is Chloe. She can't leave now,she just can't. I don't think I would be able to handle it if she died. It's all my fault I should of gotten there quicker before he had the chance to shoot her. I notice we arrive at the hospital. I run out the car without a word and go inside. When I enter I notice Jackson sitting in the waiting area with his head in his hands in worry.

"Any news?" I ask frantically. "She's in surgery" is all he says but I notice he's been crying. I don't think any of us have not shed a tear. I swear if I ever see Kyle again I will personally kill him myself. I sit in the chair next to Jackson while Tony takes the one on the other side. We just sit in silence until the rest show up. We tell they are still in surgery and we all just wait in silence.

We see a doctor head in our direction and he asks "Chloe Martin?" We all nod our heads and he reads his clipboard while I just sit here waiting to hear whether or not my girl is okay. Wait, did I just call her my girl? That doesn't matter right now. "She's okay but she's currently in a coma. She lost a lot of blood but we were able to fix the problem before it could get any worse. You can visit her if you would like. Only 2 at a time" he says. I feel relieved but I don't know if I can face her yet. "You guys go first I need to get some air" I say before walking outside.

It's been about an hour that I've been sitting out here. Kaleb and Delilah went in a couple minutes ago. Kaleb told me that the only one going to jail is Kyle. I was happy about this news but that doesn't mean I still don't want to kill Kaleb because I really do. I decide I have to go in at some point. I walk in and everyone is looking at me but I ignore their stares. "You are the only one left" Morgan says. "Okay I'll be back in a couple minutes" I say and walk into the room holding the one girl I actually care about.
