Chapter 18

"I say we just end him now" Jackson suggests once he gets to my apartment. I called Jackson after my call with Tony. I told him what happened and he rushed over. "We can't do that and you know it" I say trying to calm him down. "Why not?" Ryder asks from the couch. They are both fuming over this conversation which I'm not sure if it's the right reaction or not. "Because first off that's not what our gang is about and I'm sticking to my morals. Second he's family and if you killed Tony aunt Carol would be very disappointed and that would cause a super awkward family dinner don't you think?" I ask. "Fine we won't kill him but I get the feeling that this news is nothing but positive" Jackson says. "It definitely isn't" Ryder adds. They both start ranting about this "news" and I finally get tired of it. "ENOUGH" I say as loud as I can be. That immediately gets both their attentions. "We are going to be optimistic about this news until we know it's bad. Understood?" I say narrowing my eyes at both of them. "But-" "UNDERSTOOD?" I say again not letting any room for argument in. "Fine" they both say in unison. "Good now both of you sit. We need to talk about something I heard from a friend in Kentucky" I say a little nervous to break the news to them.

"WHAT" Jackson screams when I tell him the news. "Just what I said the Kentucky branch is over. The leader couldn't deal with the business and nobody stepped up to take over so they just disbursed" I say. "This is umm I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing" he says a little confused. "I don't know how you feel but I'm ecstatic. That gang did caused more problems than they solved and I'm glad that the community has a break now" I say not caring if they think I'm wrong. "I know you hated that branch but they did do some good to the community" Ryder tries to add. I look at him with rage filling me "You don't know anything about that branch and what they do so don't pretend like you do" I yell at him. His eyes go wide but he fixes himself real quick and responds with "oh really then tell me what they did. Enlighten me please do" he says trying to push my buttons. I look at Jackson and see him flinch knowing I'm about to go full bitch mode on Ryder. "Fuck you" is all I say before grabbing my phone and keys and slamming the door behind me. I need to blow off some steam.

RYDER'S POV
What is her problem. "You really shouldn't of done that" I hear Jackson say from beside me. "Why not? What could have happened that I deserved that?" I ask feeling anger flash through me. "It's not my place to say but just know her hatred towards that branch is understandable. They really fucked up her life for awhile" he says. I instantly regret yelling at her. "Uh I'm an idiot" I say sitting down and putting my head in my hands. I feel someone sit down next to me but I ignore it. "It's okay she will calm down. Let her blow off some steam. She'll be back" he pauses "she always is" he whispers that last part to himself more than to me I think. "What does that mean?" I ask. He looks up at me and sighs "she always went back to the gang even when she shouldn't have. Until the last time" he says while looking down. "She's a fighter" I say thinking about everything I know about her. "If only you knew" is the last thing he says before getting up and leaving. I just sit here and wait for Chloe to come back.

It's been 4 hours. It's currently 10 o'clock. Where is she. I hear the door handle jiggle and jump up to greet her and apologize. I see her walk in and notice she has cuts and scratches all over her. I run to her to check if she's okay and asks "what happened?". She looks at me and a turns to walk away but I block her and realize she won't tell me anything until I apologize. "Look I'm sorry for screaming at you earlier. It was uncalled for and you're right I don't know anything about that branch. I should trust your judgement and I'm sorry but you have to tell me who hurt you or at least how you got hurt" I say while looking at her and see she's holding back tears . "Tony is in town early" is what she says. "What did he do?" I say with gritted teeth. "He didn't. I found out his secret early and had to run through the woods not to be caught" she says explaining the cuts. "What is his secret" I ask hoping it's not the worst news possible. She looks at me then sighs and looks at the ground. "The Kentucky gang didn't end, it relocated" she says while letting her tears finally fall. I hug her and try my best to comfort her. "I'll call Jackson" I say while still hugging her.
