Chapter 46

Emily's Pov

"Thanks for having us, we'll see you all again at some point." Alx says to his family. "Alright bye sweetie." Mrs. Draughan says.

Alx says goodbye to everyone else while I put Andrew in his car seat. When I sit in the passenger seat, Alx gets in the car crying.

"Babe, what's wrong?" I ask. "I'll tell you when we get home. It's kind of personal." He says. "Alright." I say grabbing his hand.

The ride home was silent again, and it just didn't feel right. We pull up to the house and Alx runs inside.

I grab Andrew and take him to his room so he can nap some more. When I finally get him asleep, I head to mine and Alx's room.

Once I shut the door, I'm pushed against the door. Alx buries his face in my neck and starts crying. I somehow manage to get to the bed, so I sit Alx down and straddle his lap so his face is still in my neck.

After a while I finally say, "Tell me what's wrong. I can't stand to see or hear you cry." Alx tries calming down so I stay quiet and rub his back.

Once he's calm he says, "My mom has cancer." "Oh my gosh, is it bad?" I say on the verge of tears. "The doctors said she may only have three months to live." He says.

I start crying and say, "Is it cure able?" "Probably, but she'll have to go through a life threatening surgery and really tough chemo." He says.

We sit there for a while crying until Alx lifts his head up and kisses me. "We'll help her get through this. No matter what happens, I'm not leaving her behind." He says.

"I agree. I'm also not leaving your side no matter what happens. Even if you don't want me there, I'll still be there." I say to him.

"You're the best wife anyone could ever ask for." He says kissing me again. "I should go check on Andrew." I say.

"I'll come with you." He says lifting us both. He carries me all the way to Andrews room and sets me down.

"Could you watch him while I get his bottle ready?" I ask him. He nods and walks over to the crib.

I head downstairs and get the stuff for his bottle ready. While getting everything ready, I start thinking about today's events.

I hate cancer, no one deserves to get it. Cancer affects all the good people in the world and takes them out. No one deserves to die.

I finish the bottle and walk back upstairs to Andrew's room. When I get there Alx nor Andrew is in there, so I walk to my room to see that Alx fell asleep with Andrew on his chest.

I smile and set the bottle down, then decide to change out of these uncomfortable clothes.

"Em." I hear Alx mumble. "Yeh?" I ask. "Come lay with me, I need my cuddle buddy." He says extending his arm.

I walk over there and lay down. I set my head on his chest and start falling asleep. "I love you." I hear Alx mumble right before I fall asleep.
