Chapter 55

*One month later*

Alx's Pov

"Alright, so what should we do for Emily's birthday?" Alyssa asks me. "I don't really know. Maybe we could just have a family gathering back in North Carolina." I say.

"How will your mom cope with that? Isn't she not talking or something?" Alyssa asks. "Actually my mom is talking now and she's doing way better than she was before. Plus it maybe a good thing if she sees all of us." I say.

"Alright so when do you want to leave?" She asks me. "Well Emily's birthday is next week, so maybe on Sunday." I say. "That sounds good, it's give us almost a week to prepare." She says. "Yeh, I'll buy the airplane tickets and anything else we need." I say.

"You don't want me to buy nothing?" She asks. "Well you can help me buy the stuff if you want." I say. She nods and before she can say something else, Emily walks in.

"Hey babe." I say sitting her on my lap. "What were you guys talking about?" She asks. "We were talking about trying this new recipe I found online." Alyssa says. "Oh. That sounds cool I guess." Emily says leaning into me.

"Well I have to go, but maybe I can come back by and we can attempt to cook the recipe." Alyssa says walking out. "Were you two really talking about a recipe?" She asks me.

"Yeh, it seemed like a good recipe so I told Alyssa that we were going to cook it and it was going to be a surprise for you but now you know what it is so it ain't a surprise anymore." I say. She nods her head and lays it down on my shoulder.

"Can I do your hair." I ask. "No, the last time you did someone's hair you had to cut half of it off because it got stuck in the brush." She says. "Well it's not my fault I didn't know how to curl hair." I say laughing.

"You shouldn't have even touched that girls hair to begin with." She says laughing. "Fine, let's feed Andrew and find something else to do." I say.
