From hearing those words come out of Harry's mouth, Eleanor knew she should be buzzing with anticipation and excitement to finally finding out the truth but at the moment she didn't care about those things, she just wanted to make Harry okay when he was clearly not okay.
"Harry you don't have-"
But she was interjected again. "Yes I do El, I owe it to you."
Eleanor nodded as they walked past the park and down the alley leading to Magnolia Crescent. "Okay, well just tell me when to stop or if you don't want to talk about anything."
Eleanor expected Harry to look grateful at these words but he just looked numb and it made Eleanor want to cry. What had happened to him? But Eleanor already suspected something. She thought it could be the tournament. After all, Harry was so freaked out about it and after the second task he went quiet, so maybe something had happened during the third task? Eleanor couldn't be sure but she knew she wasn't going to ask about it, just to be on the safe side. She really didn't want to pressure or hurt Harry in any more of a way.
Eleanor could still get the truth today but she also had to wait until Harry was ready to indulge it all to her even though the selfish part of her brain wanted to know every detail. Even the parts that had made him change. That's what was burning her with curiosity the most, finding out what exactly had happened to make him change as drastically as he had.
"Okay," Harry offered a small smile. "Thanks El."
Eleanor didn't know if she would ever get use to it. She knew it was just a stupid nickname but it sent tingles through her body every time Harry said it.
"No worries."
"So," Harry clapped his hands together and rolled his shoulders, trying to loosen the tension in them. It was clear to Eleanor that Harry was trying, pretending to be more cheerful to brighten the mood. "What do you want to know first?"
Eleanor knew that faking emotions just made the situation worse and she definitely didn't want Harry to fake around her but she did want to try and cheer Harry up, so she let it slide and played along. Besides something in Harry's pocket had caught her eye the moment she saw him.
Harry was watching her and he soon noticed her eyes light up and gleam with mischief and her lips curl into a smirk. She really was beautiful, Harry couldn't deny it (or help noticing). She was stunning.
"What do I want to know first?" Eleanor said in a teasing tone. "I can start anywhere?"
Seeing the mischief gleam ever more presently on Eleanor's face, Harry grew a bit more hesitant but albeit said; "Anywhere you want."
"Well in that case-" Suddenly Eleanor jumped in front of Harry and quicker than he could comprehend, she had reached into his front pocket and snatched his wand from it.
Eleanor looked at it curiously, humour evident on her face. "What is this? Are the Dursleys afraid of wood or something. Or is it a lucky emblem or something of the sort?"
"Wow, diving head first in. Okay then." Harry mumbled so Eleanor wouldn't hear. He knew he was going to have to confide in her that he was a wizard, he was even excited too so they had no more secrets but he hadn't expected it to come so early into their conversation.
He scratched the back of his head, suddenly feeling vulnerable and lost for words. "Er, not exactly."
Eleanor was studying him. "What do you mean not exac- Woah, look at the carvings on it, thats awesome! Did you do that yourself?"
"No, I brought it like that." Harry said, waiting for Eleanor's confusion.
"Brought it? From where? And why?"
