*five days later/ November 5th*

"Ember hurry up! All of the fireworks will be gone!"

"I'm coming, it's Alex who's being slow!" She shouts to me.

"I said I wasn't coming!" Alex shouts.

"Let's go." Ember comes downstairs in sweatpants and runs to the car "I'm driving." I tell her.

"I know. Let's go then! Telling me to hurry up and you're being slow."

"I'm allowed to be."

"Piss off." She mumbles.

"Just because you're 22, doesn't mean that you can use big girl words and sass me." I tease.

"And again, piss off."

"You love me really." I wink.

"Fireworks!" Ember sings as I load them into the car. "Hold up, can we trust you and Alex with explosives?" She laughs.

"Probably not, but you're not getting any experts. Just two, possibly drunk guys with a barbecue lighter."

"Aren't I lucky?" She rolls her eyes. "Possibly drunk? You will be drunk. Both of you."

"Sis, you know me too well." I put my arm around her. "Let's go home." I shut the door and start the engine. "Don't sorry, it's just the band and Cass tonight. And our families, but that's it."

"That's fine. I get to see Mae and Joe again! And I get to meet Alex's parents properly."

"You still have to put up with my mom."

"I think I can handle her." She laughs. "I've had it for ages."

"I guess so."

We get home and Ember goes inside, leaving me and Alex to get the fireworks into the back yard.

"I'm too hot," She jokes. "I might set them off." She leaves us with a wink.

"Her attitude sucks." I say.

"She's funny." Alex corrects me. I shake my head at him.

*A Few Hours Later*

Jack is so drunk.

"Jack, I think you should stop lighting the fireworks now, let me do it." Joe smiles. For some reason, Jack lets him. Ember, Cass and Mae, Jack's sister, are laughing in the corner. Cass points to me.

I laugh and Ember shakes her head. Jack stumbles over to me.

"You know, I trust you with Ember."

"There's nothing going on."

"Yet." He winks and skips away. Ember walks over to me slowly, looking at her feet.

"It's freezing." She pulls the sleeves of her coat down.

"I know." I shiver.

"Ready guys?" Rian asks. We all cheer as he sets off a big firework. It glows red, shoots up and explodes into red and white stars in the sky. Ember looks up at me, it's like the night of her birthday all over again. I turn to face her and kiss her, she freezes a little, but wraps her arms around my neck. She's really small compared to me, but it works. I'm not cold anymore. I put my hands on her lips.

"Ember?" I ask breaking away.

"Yeah?" She looks at her feet.

"I- I think I love you."

"Y-you do?" She brightens up a bit.

"Sorry. Do you not like me-" she cuts me off and kisses me.

"I love you too. I've only just realised it."

"Yesss!!" Cass cheers.

"Finally!" Jack laughs. My parents are speechless.

I kiss her on the cheek and wink.

Alex kissed me. I've only just realised that I liked him. How was I so stupid?

We spent the rest of the night holding hands. I liked it that way.

They're going on tour in two months. I have the house to myself, that's gonna be scary.

"Don't worry about anything now, Em. You have me." Alex smiles.

"That's my problem. You're touring in two months."

"That's two months away. Okay? Don't worry about it."

"Okay." He squeezes me hand to reassure me.

The fireworks were soon all gone, so was the beer, thanks to Jack.

The only fireworks I wanted was when me and Alex were together.

"Bye Cass." I hug her.

"Told you so." She smiles smugly and leaves.

"Goodbye Mr and Mrs Gaskarth.'' I smile. "It was nice meeting you in person."

"You took my fool of a boy back. Thank you." Isobel, his mom, whispers in my ear. I nod and they leave too.

When the house I empty, I'm relieved. I'm really tired now.

"Night Ember." Jack hiccups. I laugh and watch him try to get up to stairs. I video it and post it to Instagram, he's gonna complain about it in the morning if he doesn't have a killer hangover. I hear his door close and turn to Alex.

"I reckon he won't wake up until tomorrow afternoon." I laugh.

"Same." Alex nods. I see the way he looks at me now.

"What are you looking at?" I ask.

"You." He smiles and blushes.

"Aw, Alex Gaskarth is embarrassed?" I tease.

"Shut up."

"Make me." I challenge him and he kisses me again.

"I'm making up for lost time." He smirks.

"Night Alex." I leave him downstairs and go into my room. That's how to tease.
