Your POV

"So these are the files related to our past projects. And this over here..." Yangyang's words just slowly faded away. I got lost from all his words and focused on one thing. "Lastly-"

"I want to know why you are resigning." I cut him off and crossed my arms.

He licked his lips avoided my eyes... once again.

"You're doing that again!" I half-scream.

"What am I doing again?"

"That look. The look you give when I ask you about anything these days!"

He shakes his head. "No, that's not true."

"It is." I breathed out. "It is like you are hiding something from me."

"What do I have to hide? Huh? Ask me any question!"

I smirked. "Why did you resign?"

"I have already told you! I have some family issues I need to deal with right now."

"And I don't believe you."

"Why not?"

"Because! This is something you would have talked to me about. You would never keep something like this from me! I don't even know how long you have had the idea of it!"

"I-... I'm sorry."

"Sorry doesn't cut it this time," I said. "I want you to be honest with me... please. I don't want to be lied to again."

Yangyang inhaled sharply and nodded.

"Why didn't you tell me that you and Zhao Lina were once engaged?"

His eyes instantly widened.

"H-How did you know?"

"Internet. It's not that hard to find information on 2 influencers in China."

Yangyang nodded before explaining to me why he didn't tell me. "I didn't want you to know because... I didn't want you to get the wrong idea."

"I know that there is more to the story."

"Yes... I was deeply in love with her for the longest time. She also recently contacted me again... she has a medical issue and her family has personally reached out to me."

"What did they want?"

He pursed his lips slightly before answering. "They wanted me to look after her for a few months... just until they see signs of her getting better."

I scoffed softly and nodded my head. "Hmph... and so you agreed."

"Yes. I'm sorry. I should have told you. It is my fault."

"That's enough. I got all the answers I wanted."

I lied. There was still one question that was unanswered. But I'm afraid to ask.

"Let's take a break," I say with a heavy heart. "Just so I could get use to the idea first... okay?"

YangYang walked closer to me. Wrapped his arms tightly around my shoulders and pressed his lips on the center of my forehead.

"Okay."

He then walked over and I exhaled hard. Breathing feels so uncomfortable. I feel so frustrated and tired.

I never wanted to go through this again... and yet. It still happened.

KNOCK KNOCK

"Yuejia."

I inhaled and put on a fake smile.

"Yes?"

"Mr. Fan asked for you."

I nodded. "Tell him I'll be right there."

Once I got all my stuff ready, I headed over to his office, knocked on his door and peaked in slightly.

"Mr. Fan. You called for me?"

"Yuejia. Can you come with me to see the progress of the new hotel?"

I smiled. "Of course."

Both of us headed to the car and his driver drove us to go see how his project, which is a hotel, is doing.

He walked in first and I followed him from behind while there was a person who was leading us, showing us around.

"Yuejia, can you write down some of the few arrangments I want made?"

"Course, go ahead." I quickly wrote down everything ChengCheng said or any ideas that he wanted to change.

"Thank you. You may leave now." ChengCheng advises to our guide. He wanted to continue looking around for a little bit more, see if there's going to be something that he might have missed before.

"Yuejia. Please add that I was large wooden doors, while around it are glass panels."

"Okay. Got it." I responded.

We continued to walk around some more but due to my own mistakes. I tripped over something.

"Ah!-"

ChengCheng was quick on his toes, so he quickly wrapped his arms around my shoulders and prevented me from falling.

My eyes widened before removing myself from his grasp and thanked him formally.

"Thank you, Mr. Fan. It won't happen again."

The facial expression on his face soften. "I don't mind."

"Uh- If there isn't anything else, then I'll be leaving first."

"Wait!" He stops me.

I look over my shoulder and raise my brow at him. "Yes?"

"How are you lately?"

"I'm okay. Thank you." I attempted to turn away from him again. But I still failed.

"No. I'm not done talking. I overheard you and that guy..."

"Really?"

"Yes. I think you should break up with him."

I avoided his eyes and scoffed. "It's my own business, I don't need you to have a say in this."

"Zhen Yuejia. I am saying this from a friend's perspective. I don't think he is serious with you."

I faced ChengCheng and smiled. "Thank you, Mr. Fan, for your concern. I will look after myself more often now."

He didn't say anything else but let me head back to the car alone.

I felt his concern... but I really believed that YangYang isn't that type of person to betray someone... especially since he has been courting me for so long.

But... in the end. It's not like I haven't thought about it in the back of my head.
