"Oh! Zhen Yuejia is that you?"

"Aha, ni-hao nainai. It's been awhile." I greeted.

She lived near my house when I was growing up here. She would always bring me fruits, especially apples and oranges. But now looking back, we were both young, now she's around 70 years old...

Her hair is no longer thick and black but is now a grey and silver; thin and frail.

"Where are you going this morning?" She asks, looking down at the soup container I was holding.

"Ah- I'm bring this to papa."

"Oh. I see. Well, how is he doing?" Concerned fills her eyes.

I pursed my lips in a thin line.

"Papa is recovering nainai. Um. I'm sorry, but I need to get to him now."

Nainai bid goodbye to me and wished the best for papa. I honestly really do wish it happens...

"Papa~!" I sang as I walked into his room.

"Hello, baobei." I cracked a smile, knowing that he can talk a little bit more now.

"Where's mama?" I asked.

"She's ah. Talking to the doctor." He explained as I fed him some soup. "Mhm. Your soup is still the best."

"Aha. Don't lie papa. Mama's is always best." I answered back, still continuing to feed him.

The door then opened a bit with mama peeking her head through.

"Yuejia. Your here."

"Good morning mama." She smiled back before motioning her hand to come outside. "Papa. I'll be right back."

I followed mama outside where she had her back facing me. I began to grow concern. "Mama... what did the doctor say?"

"He said..." She paused a bit before I turned her around to see tears falling from her eyes. "He said h-he can't sa-v-ve your papa!!" She breaks down as she collapsed onto me. I grabbed onto her arms as I supported her body weight onto me.

My mind was blank. I didn't know how to react. For the first time, I didn't know what to do. No tears came... no emotions. Just.

Confusion.

Mama continued to cry in my arms as a tried to make sense of everything.

It just doesn't make sense how papa became ill, and now what? They can't even save him?

Or... maybe they save him because they don't have the right medications or treatment, I mean we do live in the mountains, our medical technology isn't as advanced as it is in the city. Is that why?

"Mama. I n-need to go see the doctor to talk about something... please, excuse me."

I quickly headed to the doctor's office and hoped for some sort of answer.
