"You're positive that was Dart?" Lucas questioned Dustin.
"Yes. He had the same exact yellow pattern on his butt."
"He was tiny two days ago," Max pointed out.
Chris nodded her head. The pain in her nose had gone down to a dull ache.
"Well, he's molted three times already."
"Malted?" Steve asked.
"Molted," Chris rolled her eyes. "Shed his skin to make room for growth."
"Like hornworms," Dustin added.
"When's he gonna molt again?" Max wondered.
"It's gotta be soon."
"Yeah, and when he does, he'll be fully grown, or close to it. So will his friends," Chris stated.
"Yeah, and he's gonna eat a lot more than just cats," Steve said.
"Wait, a cat?" Lucas interrupted. "Dart ate a cat?"
Well shit. Lucas doesn't know about Dustin keeping Dart as a pet Chris thought.
"No, what? No!"
"What're you talking about? He ate Mews," Steve continued.
Chris rolled her eyes at Steve's stupidity.
"Mews? Who's Mews?" Max asked.
"It's Dustin's cat," Chris sighed.
"Chris!"
"Just tell him! He's gonna find out anyways!" Chris defended.
"I knew it!" Lucas yelled. "You kept him!"
"No! No. No, I..." Dustin trailed off trying to think of a lie. "He missed me. He wanted to come home."
"Bullshit!"
"I didn't know he was a demogorgon, okay?"
"Oh, so now you admit it?"
Chris once again rolled her eyes at the boys' constant bickering.
"Guys, who cares? We have to go!" Chris broke them up.
"I care!" Lucas yelled at Chris before turning his attention back to Dustin. "You put the party in jeopardy! You broke the rule of law!"
"So did you!"
"What?"
"You told a stranger the truth!" Dustin screamed, shining his flashlight in Max's eyes.
Max scoffed. "A stranger?!"
"You wanted to tell her, too!" Lucas ignored Max's comment.
"But I didn't, Lucas, okay? I didn't tell her!"
