Poem #194

your lips taste like nicotine
leaving the sweet taste on my tongue
and poison love in my veins
smoke flying out from the cracks of me
while your touch feels like whiskey
firey at first , when our skin glides together it burns
leaving love marks trailing my torso
but then it becomes bearable the more I drink
the more I let myself want you
and your words create weeds
planting themselves inside my body
inside my brain
as I watch them grow through my skin, these hideous black vines that I trie to hide
as I feel the green spikes piercing through my heart , making new wounds that won't heal
the thick brown plants inside my head feed off my thoughts of you
and the dying leaves cloud my judgement
you tell me it's out of anger
you tell me this is healthy
and that you're sorry
but darling,
your love feels like acid going down my throat
burning off my tongue so I can't taste your bittersweet romance anymore
and I end up coughing
and choking
and spitting
till I can't breathe
but you act like you're the one who's losing air
you know I can't break this attachment
this infatuation
this addiction to you
you know I need your nicotine lips
and your warm whiskey touch
you know what weeds you've put inside me
and the acid you've forced down my throat
but I love you anyway.
