Two weeks have passed since my birthday and the unexpected incident. Things are going well. Kelly is in Canada right now, so it was a good decision.

Yes, I might seem selfish for hiding my twins, but can you blame me? I'm just protecting them from future heartaches. That's what mothers do, right? We protect our family from pain.

I keep running into Logan. I know he knows that I work under his company. So whenever I see him, I quickly turn away. Not that I'm still affected—I just don't want our paths to cross. I'm out of his life, and I plan to stay that way.

"Iha? Eli? You're going to the 3rd floor, right? Can you please take these papers to the Presidential Office? I still have two batches of documents to have signed at the Accounting Department."

I was surprised when Mrs. Canvez handed me the portfolio papers. Before I could say anything, she was gone, and I noticed the elevator door closing behind her.

I sighed. It's not really a big deal, right? Come on, Eli! Yes, it is a big deal!

I gripped the portfolio tightly as I headed to the Presidential Office. There's a chance he might not be there, and I'm hoping for that. Or maybe, even if he does see me, he won't care? I bet he has his own family by now.

I knocked once. The lights in his office were on, visible through the glass side. So, he's here?"Come in."

I was startled by his voice. That voice I haven't heard in years. My knees were shaking, and my hands were sweaty as I slowly opened the door.

I found him typing at his computer. After all these years, this was the first time I saw him up close.

I placed the portfolio on the center table of his office. He didn't even look up. That's good.I quickly turned and walked away.

"So you're Eli Mignonette Ramos. Ramos, huh?"

I froze for a moment but managed to recover. I didn't dwell on what he said.

I clutched my chest as I entered the elevator. I didn't know what to do or think. He's still my husband, for crying out loud! Or maybe, for him, I'm just a nobody.

I'm not even sure what he did to our marriage. Maybe he did something illegal just to annul it?

I went back to work, trying not to think about what happened. I'm doing this for my children. They're my priority.

After work, I went straight to the twins' school. It's a private school, but not too expensive. It fits my budget, and I like it here because it's close to the apartment.

It's almost 4:00 PM, and the kids are being dismissed.

I spotted them quickly. They were running with Mica— their classmate and best friend."Mama!"

Lexi saw me right away and ran over."Hi po, Tita Eli."
