The silence between the three of us felt unbearable. It was as if we were all gauging each other's thoughts.

But Logan? He seemed unfazed, eating his meal without a care.

That's why I was beyond relieved when my phone rang, echoing through the tense air. Without a second thought, I excused myself and headed straight to the restroom, avoiding their gaze.I only breathed freely when they were out of sight.

I checked my phone and smiled upon seeing the caller ID.

"How are you?" I answered, my voice light. Silence greeted me on the other end.I'm glad he called me personally, not through Liziqi.

"Fine. You?" he replied curtly.

"Good too," I said simply.

"I told you not to go back there, right? You're so hard-headed."

Instead of feeling scared, I laughed softly. He was getting back to his old self.

"You can't stay mad at me, can you? Because you love me?" I teased.

"Alright, you win," he admitted, sounding defeated.

I smiled, shaking my head. Can't still win over me, huh?

"How's your foot, Cal?" I changed the topic.

I could hear the sound of his wheelchair rolling in the background. I wasn't sure if he was alone or if someone was with him.

"Just a little progress. I can stand on my own now."

"Really? Should I thank Lizi for being a good nurse to a jerk like you?"

He chuckled on the other end. "Nah, I'm just amazing like that."

"You're so imaginative," I replied, rolling my eyes.

I took a moment to check my reflection in the restroom mirror. My face had gone pale, probably from the awkwardness earlier.

"Still there?" I asked when he went quiet again.

"Mmhmm," he hummed.
