I stared at Logan's house for a good few minutes. My foot felt like it was glued to the car's floor, refusing to step out. Kasi, once I leave this place, tapos na—our legal connection, gone.

But what else can I do, right?

I took a deep breath and glanced at myself in the mirror. My eyes were swollen earlier, obvious na obvious na umiiyak ako. But at least I look decent now.

I closed my eyes for a moment, gathering myself before stepping out of the car. My long hair caught in the breeze, swirling around my mint-green dress.

The entire subdivision was quiet. Siguro dahil malayo ang pagitan ng mga bahay, and everyone's probably at work by now.

I'm just glad Logan made time for this.

I pressed the doorbell twice before I heard the front door creak open. I couldn't see who it was—small gap lang ang kita ko from the black gate.

I forced a smile, prepping myself for whoever would answer. Could be the maid, Logan, or... Almira?

Speaking of her, is she here? Are they living together now?

I brushed the thought aside just as the gate swung open. I smiled at the slightly startled older woman, who smiled back warmly.

"I'm happy to see you again, Manang Ilya," I greeted her.

She grinned as she opened the gate wider and gently patted my back. "Masaya rin akong makita ka, hija. Hala, pasok ka."

Stepping inside, I noticed how much the garden had changed. Dati, kaunting tanim lang dito, pero ngayon, puno na ng iba't ibang klase ng halaman. The rows of cacti stacked neatly on a shelf caught my eye, adding charm to the landscape. There's even a gazebo now.

The house itself was quiet. If the outside had changed so much, the inside looked almost the same—small updates, but nothing major.

Manang gestured for me to sit on the sofa and excused herself to get me something to drink. When I asked where Logan was, she said he was dropping the kids off at school.

"Ayos na ba 'to, hija?" she asked, setting down a glass of orange juice and a plate of macarons.

I smiled and nodded. "Ayos lang po, Manang. Kumain naman ako kanina."

She smiled back, and I caught her giving me a once-over. "Napakaganda mo ngayon, hija," she said softly.

"Pumuti lang siguro dahil sa ibang bansa," I joked.

"Saan nga bang bansa iyon?" she asked, and we made small talk for a while before she excused herself to prepare lunch.

Left alone, I looked around the house. Out of nowhere, two small dogs trotted over to me. One nuzzled against my leg while the other circled around playfully.
