It wasn't as easy as breathing. Naging mahirap para sa akin ang lahat. I thought we were done, but fate had other plans.
Still, I'll keep chasing her, even without fate's guidance.
"When did you realize you were in love with me?" she asked softly, hugging my arm. My arms were wrapped around her back as we both stared at the city lights.
"I don't know. I just woke up one day, blaming myself for everything. You're my biggest 'what if.'"That night, she left a deep scar in my heart. I was a fool for letting her go, but I had to respect her decision. If that's what she wanted.
I admit, I hated her for it, but I wasn't mad. I just couldn't believe she could do that to me. It felt like I had been manipulated.
Or so I thought.
When I finally investigated what really happened, I learned the truth—and by then, she was gone. I could easily find her, but what if she wasn't happy anymore?
That thought suffocated me. So I let her go, but I'll get her back when the time is right.
And maybe, the time is now.
"What about you?" I asked in return, and she chuckled.
"You know I've liked you ever since. I even invited you to my debut, but you turned me down," she replied, a hint of sarcasm in her voice.
"It was just days before my brother's death anniversary," I muttered, and I felt her tense. I nuzzled her hair before resting my chin on her shoulder. "It's okay, you don't have to be sorry."
She nodded silently. "Your brother..." she hesitated.
"What about him?"
"When should we tell Liara about him?"
The image of smiling Liara flashed in my mind. "We should tell her soon. I'm not afraid of her finding out I'm not her real father. I'm more worried about how she'll react when she learns about her father's death. Especially after what happened with Almira."
"That's what I've been thinking too. But my conscience keeps nagging at me about hiding it from her for too long."
I couldn't help but smile, despite the heavy topic. That's one of the reasons I fell for her so deeply—she's full of warmth and love.
"Don't worry, we'll tell her. Maybe after we get married?" I asked, but fear gripped me when she didn't respond.
"Why? Is something wrong?" I asked, trying to keep calm even though my chest was tightening with anxiety. I feared she might be having second thoughts about marrying me.
"It's nothing..." she whispered, but I couldn't shake the feeling. "It's just that... I'm still processing all the changes. You, holding me like this—it's all still so new to me," she confessed.
