A world where whenever someone falls in love romantically, a red tally mark appears on the wrist. But if the love is unrequited (one-sided love) it becomes black.
Additionally, when the person you love dies, the tally mark becomes a permanent scar.
The marks keep adding up for every crush, lover, or requited love you get.
Once it's there it's always there.
