My own idea/Inspired from Harry Potter:
Everyone has a spirit animal. In this world, humans can feel a vague, but strong connection between them and their spirit animal, both emotionally, spiritually, and almost physically. Each person will know which animal they're with right away. Moreover, a human and their guardian animal can bond like no other; making it easier for a person to have a unique bond with a specific animal.
If another person were to have the same spirit animal as another, they are technically soulmates.
And the possibility of having multiple soulmates in that world, is vast. Many opportunities, basically.
