My own idea:In this world, different blood types are literally just different colors. sounds odd but no in this world has red blood. And if you are born with red blood, then it's extremely rare. To add to it, blood types are used to identify what type of people go well together (romantic relationship-wise) and it's fairly accurate.
Ex. Based off of the color wheel, yellow and purple blood types go well together, so people with those types are most likely going to get in a relationship. Their children are either going to have purple or yellow types. As in if your first child had purple blood, that means the rest of your children are going to have it too.
People who don't end up with a person that their blood type would coordinate with, are viewed as outcasts, because in this world, that isn't very common. Children born of 'untyped' parents have a higher chance of being born with red blood.
Bonus: vampires actually exist in this world! (more modern/civilized) They are the ones who have red blood! So rare humans who are born with red blood are deemed as outcast 'fake vamps' even though they completely are human. Vampires in this world like the taste of red better than any other type.
Scenario:
- Doctor ends up with patient who was involved in an accident; which results in the patient losing a lot of their blood. The nurses get all sceptical about this patient because they end up being a so-called 'fake vamp.' The faculty is also low on red blood, because it's extremely rare, so they didn't have enough red blood. Doctor ends up getting their hands on more red blood for the patient, and they live. What they don't know is that the doctor is actually a vampire, (which is where they got the blood from) Who, later ends up falling for the patient. Would often visit them to see how they're doing because they sympathize with the patient a lot; seeing as how both 'fake vamps' and actual vampires are treated as outcasts in this world.
