Chapter 4 Newbie

The next morning, I woke up to the light gaping from the curtains. I sat and stretched my arms and back. The red covers and golden sheets looked even more beautiful in the daylight. I stepped out of bed and went over to the door.

I peeked outside the hall, it was completely empty. Waiting outside was a box and a note. I took the items in and ripped open the letter.

Dear Megumi,

I have a very interesting proposition to offer you, normally I don't do this so keep that in mind. I would like for you to work for me. I know that last night was a bit extreme but I rather think of it as an audition.

I would you to act as my bouncer for my restaurant and my personal assistant. I assure you that you'll be paid very well and I'll let you stay here. However, you will have to provide your own food. Remember I don't do this very often so think wisely. I'll be back by midnight.

MM

I still had some doubts about this guy. I barely know him and he seems like a total creep to me. However, the job offer is very tempting. In the box were two sets of clothes and my wig. One was a preppy schoolboy outfit while the other was a girly shirt and skirt. He even gave a wallet filled with money for last night, a chest binder and a bra.

It was very kind of him to give me the option but I stuck to my usual way of dress since I still felt strange to be in my own skin. I put on the binder then the button up, after that I slipped into my trouser and pulled over my sweater vest. Once I was all done, I slipped on the creepers and shoved the wallet in my pocket.

I needed to think through my options. Right now, I really have nothing going on. As much as I wanted to search for Noboru something told me that it was pointless. He told me that if we were to ever be separated, my main priority should be to survive.

I let out a long sigh and headed out to the streets. It was pretty empty out, then again it is pretty early. I looked up and saw how ugly the weather was today.

"Damn it, it's gonna rain soon." I groaned.

Within a couple of minutes, my prediction came true. It wasn't light rain, it was pounding down hard. I hurried into the closest store for cover. Everyone else was doing the same, keeping their suits nice and dry.

The only people out were a lady and her daughter. Wherever they were going must have been important. I mean, who else would be crazy enough to walk out in that rain. I walked around the store checking out the crap that these humans were eating.

The store clerk snapped open her soda and lightly sprayed me. The tiny droplets touching my skin was enough to make me gag.

"I'm terribly sorry, sir!" she gasped.

I stared coldly at her and wiped the poison off me. "Watch it next time, kid"

I quickly bought myself an umbrella and hurried out of that store. The puddles on the concrete splashed at my ankles, I shivered from the cool sensation. Right when I let out another sigh, I inhaled the bitter sweet aroma of coffee.

Cold day, warm drink sounded good to me. I trudged through the cold sea and finally reached the door. A young girl with one eye warmly greeted me and led me to my seat. Once I sat down she asked for my order. I order a regular cup and sat back in my chair.

When I was finally alone, my eyes narrowed down by their main bar. Something was strange about this place. There was this delectable scent that roamed around the room. There was actually a mix of scents here.

"Here's your order."

I looked up to see a boy with an eye patch serve me. He gave a sweet smile and handed me some creme to go with my drink. I gazed at him for a while, looking at every detail on his face.
