Chapter 8

Chapter 8 Slice and Dice

"Wake up!" A tough man shook me to get off the ground. When I opened my eyes, I found myself standing in front of a whole group of ghouls wearing masks. My legs and hands were all bound by chains.

"Where am I? Who are you people?"

One of the members walked up to me. He pulled down his hood and slowly removed his mask. He smiled at me in a very sweet and familiar manner.

"N...Noboru?" I gasped.

"It's great to see you again, Megumi." he said as he wrapped his big arms around me.

"I-I thought you died!" I cried into his arms. "You never came back..."

"I know and I'm so sorry. But I'm here now, you have nothing to worry about."

Out of the crowd, a boy appeared and quickly ripped Noboru off of me.

"No! Let me go!" I screamed.

The boy grabbed my blouse collar and pulled me close to his face. He aggressively pierced his fist into my gut and pulled me by my hair.

Noboru motioned to save me but then one of the members in the crowd held him back.

"You better show more respect or else you'll end up loosing all of your teeth. We only kept you safe because Noboru just happens to be a skilled fighter." He pulled my head up higher so I'd be looking up. "I'm Ayato. Unless you keep on misbehaving you'll be seeing more of me. Be thankful that I'm showing you mercy."

"Mercy?" I coughed. My simple comment got me another smack across the face.

He then threw me to the floor and began to walk off. This brat aggravated me so much right when I opened my mouth, Noboru quickly covered it.

"Megumi, please that's enough." he whispered.

"Why are you with these douches?"

"I had no choice, come on," he helped me up and requested to have my shackled removed.

Once I was freed, Noboru walked me over to one of the windows. We stood side by side in silence.

"Noboru, what happened to you? I waited there for hours hoping you'd come back." he refused to look at me. "Where were you when I needed you most?"

"Right when I disposed of our items, a car came out of nowhere and tried to hit me. I quickly used my kagune to protect myself. Turns out that car was a trap and soon I was approached by several agents. I was able to kill four of them but with my wounds from the accident I couldn't go on any further. These members saved me from getting killed and I owed them aid that night."

He turned his head and fully faced me.

"By the time I was home, I saw that our home was destroyed and had investigators surrounding it. I tasted the blood on the ground and knew for a fact that it belonged to you. I asked several ghouls in the region and all of them claimed that they saw you die that night."

He let out a big sigh and held on to the cross around his neck. He had a strong face on and squeezed my hand tightly.

"Everyone said you were dead and I felt like a failure. The shame was too much for me and rage overwhelmed my head. I wanted to kill the agents that roamed in our house and the streets. Revenge was the only thing left for me, so I went back to the Aogiri Tree and request that they take me. I pledged to be a loyal servant and I've been killing agents non-stop ever since that day."

"How did you find me?"

"When we roaming around the city, I smelt something familiar in the region." He searched around in his pocket and held out one of the ribbons I tied my twintails in. "When I was ordered to stay here and stand guard I asked Yamori, who was going to be in the city the next day, to trail down this scent if he came across it."

His serious face softened and gave me a smile. "I was speechless when he brought you in."

I leaned my head against his shoulder and closed my eyes, letting my tears flow.

"You have no idea what it was like out there." I sniffled. "I really missed you."

"We don' have to be apart now. I asked the One Eyed Ghoul for you to stay and said that he'll grant it as long as you help out our cause."

"What's the cause?" Right when Noboru was going to answer me, two members appeared.

"Bin brothers, what can I do for you?" Noboru got in front of me as if he was ready to fight.

"Nico and Yamori have arrived. They want to see the girl." One of them answered.

"Come on Megumi let's-"

"No not you, Yamori told us specifically to only bring the girl." the other one interrupted Noboru.

"What? No way, she's not going anywhere near that guy." Noboru suddenly grew angry.

"If we don't take her there soon, you're going to have to deal with Yamori' games. All they want is the girl."

Noboru stood his ground for a couple more minutes but then he closed his eyes and backed down.

"Fine, but you guys bring her back immediately after it."

"Fine by us."

Noboru hugged me tightly for a brief moment. He looked at me as though his face was filled with regret and shame. He looked like he was really sorry, like this was like one big apology hug. After that he pushed me towards them.

"Noboru...?" I looked back at him.

"I'm sorry but it's for our own good." he mumbled.

Something felt wrong here. My stomach felt like it was going to drop and my legs felt wobbly all of a sudden. By the time I looked back again to question him, he had already disappeared.

Once I knew he was gone again, I began to walk slower and struggled to move with these guys. The more I tried to slow down the more force they had to use.

"Wait a minute," I stopped walking and tried to release my arms from their grasp. "I said wait a minute! I'm not ready!" I yelled louder for them to hear.

"Come on, knock it off!" one of them growled at me.

"No!NO! I'm not ready yet!!!" I started to scream.

"Dammit, move along!" they hurried me.

"Stop walking so fast!! Stop! I SAID STOP! STOP! STOP! STOP!" I screamed louder and louder alerting the other members in the halls.

Both my escorts had grown tired of my cowardly behavior and lifted my feet off the ground. I kicked my legs in the air trying to slow down their stride.

"Help! Help!" I screamed. Seeing that they were making no progress, one of the brothers lifted me onto his shoulder and carried me there.

All I could see were the other ghouls watching me get carried away. I had no idea how close we were getting to the room, where these people were waiting for me.

"PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME! PLEASE!" I called to the others who stared with frightened eyes.

"NOBORU! NOBORU SAVE ME PLEASE! SAVE ME!" I began to sob loudly. "PLEASE SOMEONE!"

My heart suddenly began to beat rapidly once I heard a door open. I thrashed around violently, trying to wiggle out of his hold. As I kicked my legs in the air, I felt several hands try to drag me down.

"AHHH! SAVE ME!! PLEASE SAVE ME! TSUKIYAMA! TSUKIYAMA!! SAVE ME!!" I cried as the other brother came in front of me and shut the door.
