Chapter 13 Jealousy

The next morning we all headed out to the 20th ward. Since this was a mission, I decided to wear a disguise for today. I picked out a wig that was somewhat the same color as Tsukiyama.

We walked into the hospital that Kaneki was in and waited in the lobby while Tsukiyama was talking with the main desk lady. I laid back and rested my feet on the table. As I drifting to sleep, a nurse came up and started chatting with Kaneki.

Apparently this woman was Kaneki's nurse and worked under Kanou. I had a strong feeling that our next move was going to deal with this unfortunate soul. Once she walked off, Kaneki and Banjou got up from their seats.

"Gumi, let's head out." Kaneki ordered.

"What about Tsukiyama?"

"He'll know where to find us. Besides, you know how strong that guy's nose is." Banjou added.

"Sorry Kaneki, but I'm gonna stay behind. He is my boss."

"Alright then, if you need us you have our number right?" Kaneki held out his cellphone.

I took mine out of my pocket and waved it around. Kaneki waved me farewell and headed out the hospital. About an hour later, Tsukiyama walked out the doors. I quickly ran up to him and followed him out the door.

"Where is everyone?" He seemed to be confused.

"Kaneki and the others left. My guess is that they're picking up Hinami. We should probably head back to Hinami's too."

Tsukiyama and I arrived at the house but no one was there. I took this time to take a shower and change out of my disguise. I wore a black lacey dress and put my shawl on. I headed downstairs, where Tsukiyama was on the phone with someone one.

Once he hung up, he turned to face me.

"Who was that?" I asked. "Was it Kaneki?"

"No, just some other worker of mine." He handed me my mask. "Come on, they're waiting for us."

We all stood on top of the tallest building waiting for the nurse to show up.

"There she is!" All of us motioned to jump down but then another group surrounded her.

"Who are they?" I looked over to Kaneki.

He jumped down the building first and called out to the group. All of us followed in, ready to fight them off.

"You're the one who killed my big bro..." the smallest guy in the group said.

"I hope you know that there was a crap ton of people in his world..." I muttered.

"Was I talking to you, skank?!" He suddenly blurted out. "Can't you see that I'm in pain?!"

"Well shit, message received..."

"Yamori, why did you leave me?!" The man cried.

That name fueled the hate in my gut. I pushed everyone aside, ready to pounce at him but then Banjou held me back.

"Let me go! If he's really his brother, I want to send both of them to hell!" I hissed at Banjou.

"I understand that your upset-"

"Oh I'm not upset, I'm enraged!" I was going to hurt him to let me go but then a huge muscle man and another member plummeted down at Kaneki.

"Shachi, I planned to torture him!" The sobbing fool cried.

"Naki, you're way too slow!" He yelled as he pursued Kaneki.

"Kaneki!" Tsukiyama ran over trying to help out Kaneki but then that guy, Naki attacked him.

"Hey back off!" My kagune ripped out of my back and lifted me off the floor.

Right when I was going to slash him, someone grabbed my kagune and snapped off one of the legs. I was kicked so hard in my gut that I began to cough out blood.

I scrambled on the ground, screaming in pain. It's been such a long since I fought so the pain felt so foreign to me.

"Megumi!" Tsukiyama called to me as he kept on fighting.

"Megumi?" The ghoul that attacked me repeated my name.

I tried to crawl away from him but then he ended up ripping out another leg to stop me. I laid on the ground, paralyzed with this excruciating pain. The ghoul stood in front of me and removed his mask.

"Hello Megumi." Noboru said in a dull tone.

"N-No...Noboru..." I tried my best to speak. "How...h-how could you...?"

"To be honest, I didn't expect you to live when you ran off. Everyone in that building lost their lives one way or another. I'm surprised to see that you're still you."

His voice was a completely different person talking. As he was monologuing, I used this time to use my leftover kagune to knock him down and stab through his hands.

"What's happened to you, Noboru?!" I yelled in his face.

"Get off!" He kicked my in the stomach and used his kagune to fling me into a wall.

His throw was so powerful that I broke through the building. A huge piece of debris was crushing my body. I cut it in half with my blades and used them to support my body to get up. I limbed over to the hole and saw that the Aogiri was getting away.

Right when Noboru was preparing himself to leave, I used all my strength to launch myself at him. As we were tumbling on the ground, I took this chance to take a bite out of him to heal myself. After I chewed up most of his shoulder and back, he pushed me on my back.

While I was pinned, his kagune crept out of him, ready to tear me apart. I looked up at him in tears of what he had become. His eyes were angry but they were also tearing up.

Out of the blue, Tsukiyama quickly knocked him off of me. Noboru rolled over to the building and made his retreat.

"Megumi, are you alright?" Tsukiyama said softly.

I bowed my forehead against the cement and sobbed my eyes out until they were dry. Tsukiyama put his arm around me and helped me up. We walked over to Kaneki who was already up.

"Are you alright?" He asked me. "If you want, I can have you escorted back to Hinami's so you can heal."

"No, I'm still coming with you guys. The point of me being here was get back at the Aogiri and bring Noboru back home. And I intend to keep that promise. I'm coming with you guys."

Kaneki looked at me with such pity. But once he realized that there was nothing that could change my mind, he knelt on the floor and went over our new plan.

As he talked, I couldn't fully pay attention. The only thing on my mind was Noboru and what had happened to him. All his life, his main goal was to protect me but today just ruined that streak.

Once our lecture was over we all headed out to find Madam A.

"Are you sure that you're alright?" Tsukiyama looked concerned.

"I'll be fine...however, I don't want to believe that this is true. It's not like him to hurt me like that. I have to speak to him. I have to."

Soon enough we stood in a lot filled with metal crates. The main point of us being here was to find the scrapers that Madam A had. With Tsukiyama's nose leading us, it didn't take long for us to find them.

Everyone went into their hiding positions. I stood by Tsukiyama with my kagune ready, just in case these scrapers were willing to pick a fight.

"Bonjour." Tsukiyama greeted them as he stepped in.
