Chapter 14 part 3
He summoned all of his kagune's arms and immediately began to strike me. I was only able to stand still and use my kagune as a shield since his speed was more superior than mine. After several unsuccessful attempts, he began to grab random objects in the park and throw it against my shield.
The force of his throws were so powerful that it brought me down to my knees. Suddenly everything had stopped. I opened my eyes but the only thing I could see was smoke and dust. I slowly got up and tired to listen carefully for him.
When I heard something move in the distance, I immediately lunged my blades toward the sound. I hit nothing but air and cleared away some of the smoke. I realized that this had to be some trap to get me to reveal my location.
From behind, Noboru's kagune whiplashed me, first knocking me to the concrete and then tumbling into the grass. As he came over, ready to attack again, I rolled up and actually stood at a stalemate with him. The feeling of his kagune was different. It felt like it had some kind of hard shell covering it and it was spikier than before. His eyes were crazy and evil, he was a complete monster.
Our kagunes clashed against each other like were were sword fighting. Even though my kagune was still bigger and had many more blades, he was stronger and had become more brute. I moved one of my blades' smaller legs and tried to saw off a piece of his kagune.
He noticed my plan and wrapped his kagune around mine. With this move, he dragged my body and threw me around into trees and the floor. My body was badly bruised but surprisingly I didn't break anything. I laid on the floor, wheezing for air.
Noboru walked over, put his foot on my back and tore off a few parts of my kagune. This was probably the only thing that was really painful for me. I screamed from the stinging sensation when the wind would touch my open wound.
He then turned me over. I looked up at his face and noticed something different about him. His eyes were a bit watery like he was about to cry. He had his kagune against my throat, ready to end my life. After a few minutes of silence and contemplation, he let out a sigh and drew back.
"I'm done here." he grumbled and turned to leave.
I mustered up all of my left over strength and got up on my feet. Noboru stopped once he felt that I was still standing.
"Go home, Megumi. I'm sure that there are others waiting for you to get back, like those kids."
"Well you should go home too. I'll be waiting for you to return."
"Megumi, I can't come back home and I won't. Like I said before stay out of everyone else's business." He let out a sigh.
"You really have no right to be telling me what to do, considering the fact that you've made us into rivals." I scoffed.
"That may be true but I'm telling you this as a piece of advice. Stay out other peoples affairs."
"Not until you come home. I'll listen to you when that moment comes, until then I don't care about what you have to say."
"Stubborn as always." he mumbled under his breath and headed out into the night. "I won't be the one taking care of you anymore. You watch over yourself."
"Noboru," I called after him. He actually acknowledged my call but he kept on walking. "Be careful." I said softly.
He suddenly spun around to fully face me for a brief second. He placed his right hand over his heart and gave a small bow. The last I saw before he disappeared into the city streets was his warm and gentle smile. How it warmed my heart to see it again.
