Chapter 11 Reunion

I woke up to the buzzing sound of my alarm, I sat up from my warm bed and slammed it to the floor. All of a sudden my phone began to blast out music thus ruining my chance to fall straight back to sleep.

Without even checking the caller, I answered it.

"Tsukiyama, why are you calling me this early?" I whined.

"Non! My timing is never wrong! Check your watch." he said in his usual loud volume.

I looked down at my clock and tumbled out of bed, once I realized what time it was.

"What?! I'm late?! How did this happen?!"

"You forgot to change your time last night when I called you. You're lucky that I decided to remind you."

"Hey, today isn't a usual dinner night. Besides what's the special meal that you'll be bringing?"

"I told you already, it's a surprise. I'll tell you all about it when we come in tonight."

"Finally, I haven't seen the other guys for the past three months. Can I come along with you guys soon? Working here by myself is really boring." I put the phone on speaker and went over to my wardrobe to change.

"Boring? You should be honored for running the the restaurant all by yourself. I remember the first time you worked for me, you were absolutely terrible." he let out a haughty laugh.

"Haha, so funny," I rolled my eyes and searched through my closet for something descent to wear. "Are you gonna stay longer than an hour and actually eat with me?"

"I'm not so sure about that idea."

"Well, what about the boys? Are they staying?" I finally found a nice dress and quickly slipped into it.

"We'll see, just be patient."

"Did you order my dress?" I hollered from across the room.

"Of course I have, we've been doing this for more than a year if you've been paying attention." he scolded.

"Shut it! I've been working here by myself for the past year while you guys disappear into the night out having more excitement than me! I should be the one complaining! You're such a liar!" I yelled.

"I'm working the finances for the restaurant."

"Yeah, but you're not here! You only show up to greet your guest and you barely stay to have an actual conversation with me! The only time we actually talk is on the phone! You said that this was only temporary!"

"Calmato. It is temp-" I rushed over to my desk, picked up the phone and screamed in it.

"No, it's been a year! A FUCKING YEAR, TSUKIYAMA! I'M NOT HERE TO PLAY MAID OR HOUSE WIFE, THAT WAS NOT THE DEAL! I WANT TO HELP TOO! Do you have any idea how much your workers are screwing up?"

"How many of them did you eat?" He grew more serious.

"Six...last week." I mumbled.

"Six?! Sacre bleu! What are you doing over there?!"

"Gee, I don't know maybe if you actually came home then you'd know what's going on!"

As he kept yelling obscene words in french, I laid on my bed and just listened to his voice. After a minute of swears, everything had finally quiet down. I turned to my side, as though someone was really beside me.

"Tsukiyama?" I said softly.

"What is it, Gumi?" he sighed.

"I-I... noticed that I never asked how you guys were doing. Any luck?"

"This dinner is our main lead. That's why it's really important." he said in a more calm tone.

"Okay then. I'm sorry for freaking out, I just wanted to yell at you for all long time. But I wanted to wait until you came here in person, so I could publicly humiliate you. Looks like I couldn't make it. Anyways, sorry."

"All is forgiven." He paused for a moment to recollect himself.

"I know that this dinner would certainly delight you, I feel that this is your type of entertainment." From the sound of his voice, I could easily tell that he was smiling maliciously on the other line.

"It better be." I looked over at the time and scrambled out of bed. "I forgot I had an appointment! Listen, I gotta leave! I'll see ya later! Bye!"

I hanged up and ran out the room. Over by the door were two maids who already had my coat ready for me. I quickly snatched it and headed out the door.

I went inside a local salon and met up with my usual stylist.

"Gumi, there you are! You're late again!" she scolded me.

"Sorry Mio, I lost track of time." I said as I as sat.

As she worked on my hair, she kept chatting with the other stylist and asked me a few questions about my so called "date night."

"I feel that your hair grows really fast." She commented. "Last time I saw it, it was hovering right over your shoulders. Anyways, you guys go on alot of date nights. I wish my husband and I could go out more."

"Really?"

"Oh yeah, sure! He's always busy with work or out drinking with friends. We have date night once a month but you guys go every week or so. So what kind of dress did he get you this time?"

"This." I handed her my phone so she could see it. But then she started passing my phone around, showing it to the other girls.

"That's not fair!" one of them whined.

"Gumi, you have to bring him over here some time. We'd love to meet him!" Mio started to curl the other side of my head.

"I don't know about that." I laughed uncomfortably.

If only you guys knew how much of weirdo this guy is, then you'd probably take back your words. Besides what's so great about being in a relationship, it's nothing but more stress on your shoulders.

"Come on, we love seeing our customers' partners. It makes us happy to see our efforts get some attention. He's going to flip once he sees you now."

I highly doubt that. He has better things to do.

Once my hair was done, I called for a cab and went back home to get ready. I hurried to my room, where the maids already set my dress and shoes. For finishing touches, I put on my usual blackberry feathery shawl and my mask on. As I was putting on my jewelry, I heard someone approaching.

"Miss?" one of the maids knocked on my door.

"Yes, come in." the woman trembled before me and looked at me through the reflection of the mirror. "What is it?"

"The guest are here, ma'am."

"Good. Let them in."
