Chapter 6 part 3
Tsukiyama had all his servants line up and ordered everyone to start cleaning up the restaurant and prepare plates. He replaced everything with his newest supplies. Right after I saw him, I went back to bed and tried my best to ignore the ruckus outside my door.
"Megumi! Megumi!" a hushed voice startled me awake.
There he knelt right next to my bed, still wearing that stupid grin from the morning.
"Megumi, it's time to get dressed." he said in a friendly tone.
"What now?!" I groaned, covering my head with the sheets.
Immediately, he pulled the sheets off my face and turned on the lamp beside my bed.
"Not now dammit!" I yelled into my pillow. I could still feel his presence looming over me. I picked up my head and blew away the stray hairs on my face.
"Good. Now I have something to give to you." From under my bed he picked up a gift box.
I opened the box and the first thing I could see was a bunch of black feathers and something fluffy. Inside the box was a purple, long fitted dress; a big fluffy, feathery cover up and last were my two masks.
The dinner mask was a grayish purple shade. At the edge by the eyes were lace detail and small feathers growing off to the side. And at one side of the mask, two long black feathers stuck out.
"Tonight you'll be known as the Raven. Since you are still injured I don't really expect you to start fighting so you'll be sitting by me."
"Should I be cheering about that?" I scoffed.
"You should be blessed to share the spotlight and bask in my glory." He got up from his knees and put on his mask. "Quickly get ready we're about to start soon."
By the time, I finally finished I stumbled my way over to Tsukiyama's seat, however I couldn't remember where it was. But along the way there, one of the maids had dropped a plate. I walked over to help clean them and asked her if she knew where the doors to the arena were. She said she'd help get here after she delivered something.
We both walked in a room, where a young man was standing. She rolled in the cart without even greeting him.
"Hey...um...do you know where Tsukiyama is?" he asked us.
"I'm terribly sorry but..." when I turned to face him, a light bulb began to flash in my head. "Wait a minute...do I know you?"
This guy is Kaneki, Rize's murder!
Right when I figured him out the maid tugged on my arm, telling me to leave now. Without even saying anything back the maid began to drag me away.
When we were out of the room and had the door closed. The maid took off her mask.
"I'm sorry ma'am but the orders are to never speak to the meal." She let go of my hand and hurried me over to a wide set of doors. There Tsukiyama was waiting.
"Right on time, shall we head in?"
Two butlers opened the doors and drew back the curtains. He waved to the crowd and blew kisses to the ladies. I too waved but not as overly enthusiastic as him. I hurried over to take my seat.
"Everyone, welcome! I present you our most exquisite meal!" he snapped his fingers and coming out of the floor and into the arena was Kaneki.
"He's a ghoul!"
Murmurs filled the air, everyone debated on whether or not they wanted to eat him tonight. Once doubt showed, Tsukiyama pulled out his handkerchief and threw it in the crowd for everyone to smell.
The crowd's energy came back to life once everyone caught a whiff of their meal.
"Madam A, bring out your scraper!"
A big man came out and began to chase Kaneki around. For some reason watching this somewhat disturbed and excited me. I was very curious to taste Kankei but I was disturbed by Tsukiyama.
My eyes rolled over to him. His eyes were wide and excited, however it didn't seem normal. I could tell that something was very off about him.
"Tsukiyama...?" I began but then I heard the crowds gasping.
Kaneki had a kagune out and began to fight off the scraper. Tsukiyama suddenly got up and climbed up on the ledge. I grabbed onto his suit and tried to pull him back down.
"Tsukiyama, what the hell are you doing?! Are you trying to get yourself killed!?" I grunted.
"Let go of me!!" He viciously ripped my hands off him and pushed me to the ground. "He's mine to eat!"
Tsukiyama jumped down and actually killed the scrapper himself. Blood spattered everywhere, everyone stared in shock.
He then announced that we'd be eating the scraper for tonight's meal. Once that little incident was over, Kaneki was escorted out and wasn't seen that night. Tsukiyama didn't show up for dinner as well. I sat by myself, looking around for him.
As my eyes were wondering, I accidentally made eye contact with a mysterious guy across the room. He had a heavy built and piercing gaze. I quickly turned my attention back to my meal. Out of curiosity, I glanced back and nearly choked on my food when I saw him rise.
I too hurried out of my seat and ran down the hall. I opened one of the windows and climbed up the roof. I sat up there and observed the man look for me and then leave. I decided to stay there until the whole dinner was over because there really wasn't a need for me to stay.
When it was all over I headed back to my room.
"Megumi!" He called me from his study room. I hesitantly walked inside, stopping a couple feet away from him.
"Why are you so far from me?" He walked over to a chair and patted it for me to sit.
I cautiously came over and sat down. He then handed me a cup of coffee but remained standing.
"Tsukiyama..."my voice trembled.
"Hmm?"
"Are-are you alright?" I dared to ask.
"Me? I'm fine, better than ever. Why do you ask?"
"It' just that...okay, don't get offended but today you were acting like a complete lunatic." He let out a hardy laugh.
"None taken. Although on a more serious note there is something we must discuss. Don't take this personally but I'm afraid I'm going to be working by myself for a while. I'll need you to stay asleep for quite some time." His eyes gazed into mine, I felt very threatened and uncomfortable.
My throat felt dry and my blood went cold. I took a big gulp of my coffee trying to relax myself but instead I felt strange. My vision was starting to blur and my body felt weak. I coughed and coughed on the remains of my drink.
"Unfortunately there can only be one. Only one can eat him and that'll be me." his voice became distorted in my ears.
My body felt so weak that I collapsed down on the table and spilt coffee everywhere. At this point I was pathetically laying on the floor, unable to move and barely able to speak.
"I know about your lust for ghoul flesh and a rare dish such as Kaneki can only be enough for one." He knelt by me and lifted my face. He came close and whispered in my ear.
"Kaneki is mine and mine alone. If you take a bite out of him, I will kill you. Be grateful that I'm sparing your life." he pushed my hair out of my face and placed his hand on my cheek.
"Goodnight, ma chere." He said as he walked out and locked up the door. Leaving me alone in the dark.
