More than Just Fear (Part 1)

*Dinobot's POV*

The next morning Dinobot wakes up drained. He never felt so emotionally exhausted in his life, not since his last break-up. He sits up and runs the sleep out of his eyes. He looks over and sees that Y/n was still asleep. "I don't blame you for wanting to sleep, Y/n."

"I'm not asleep. I'm awake," said Y/n.

"How long have you been awake for?" Dinobot asks.

"For a couple of hours. For woken up by your cellphone going off. I think someone was trying to get ahold of you."

"I'll see who it was then. So how much longer will we be staying here?"

"Another day at least. I don't feel like going back home."

"I know depression and greif over the loss of a loved one can leave an impact on you, but if you need to talk, I'm always here for you." Dinobot leans over and pulls Y/n into his embrace. "I know it's not easy to move on, but for my sake, at least try. I don't like feeling your sadness." He kisses her. "We should get dressed. I can smell that your mom made breakfast. We shouldn't keep her waiting."

Y/n gets out of bed and stretches, a couple of her bones popping. "Yeah I can tell I didn't sleep well." She grabs a change of clothes and leaves the room and into the bathroom to take a shower to help herself wake up from the grogginess of half-step caused by crying over the loss of Icebird the night before.

Dinobot gets himself ready for the day as well, opting to take a shower later. While he was getting dressed his phones starts going off, buzzing across the nightstand since it was set to vibrate the night before so that way he and Y/n could have a quiet night together. He picks up his phone and answers it. "Hello?"

"About time you answer! You sleep like the dead, you know that, right?!"

Dinobot recognized right off the bat as to who was calling. "What is it Megatron?'

"You and Y/n need to leave the area. You both are in danger."

"Dinobot quickly became confused. "In danger? How?"

"My past came back to haunt me, more like one of my old experiments."

"Another stuck Maximal or Predacon?"

"Actually a hundred times worse. Rampage is in the area. He was what injured Icebird. Taranchulas finished examining Icebird's remains early this morning, came running to me in a panic, and told me what happened. Hardly anything phases Taranchulas but when it comes to Rampage, he is not to be fucked with," said Megatron.

"So let me get this straight. We could have been killed last night?"

"Yes. I suggest you and Y/n leave the area. I'll arrange protection for her family until I deam it safe for them. We'll discuss this later. Goodbye." Megatron hangs up his end of the phone call.

Dinobot calmly sets his phone down before running to the bathroom where Y/n was still in the middle of her shower. He quickly opens the door, not even thinking of knocking since fear was beginning to set in, ends up startling Y/n. She squeals in surprise. Luckily for her, she had a towel wrapped around herself, covering her body.

"Ever heard of knocking?! You nearly gave me a heart attack!"

Dinobot keeps his eyes trained on Y/n's face, not allowing himself the luxury of letting his eyes wander down lower on her body. "We need to leave. Megatron just called. He told me what injured Icebird."

"What do you mean, Dinobot?" Y/n asks, calming herself down from the recent jumpscare.

Dinobot quickly explains what he was just told by Megatron, even though he wasn't told everything. He watches Y/n's face pale in fear at the thought of how close they were to being killed the night before.

"What about my family?" Y/n asks.

"Megatron has arranged for someone to protect them for the time being."

"As far as I can recall about Megatron, from what you told me, he had a bit of a personality change after he became...what was it called..." Y/n was lost in thought for a few minutes before she remembered what she was talking about. "Oh yeah, now I remember what it is called. Transmetal 2, right? Temper tantrums as well as being more controlling of his ambitions. But why the change of heart now? That has me confused." She looks Dinobot dead in the eyes. "Now get out of here so I can get dressed."

"Sorry about that," said Dinobot before he leaves the bathroom.

*Y/n's POV*

Y/n hurries and gets herself dried off and dressed. She hurries back to her room and finds that Dinobot was already packing their stuff. "Guess we won't be staying an extra day then, huh?"

"Not if our safety is being risked," said Dinobot.

Y/n helps Dinobot finish packing so they can leave sooner. She didn't like the idea of leaving already but whoever this Rampage guy was, has both Megatron and Dinobot spooked. And Megatron being spooked out, from which Y/n found out recently, was never a good thing. "I'm going to head downstairs and let my parents know what is going on." Y/n leaves her room and goes downstairs only to find out they already have a visitor, who was busy talking to her parents and brother. Y/n gets a good look at the guy. He had long sliver hair was was tied back into a ponytail and was wearing a police uniform. She had a feeling who it was. "Silverbolt I presume?" Y/n asks as she was about to confront her parents.

"Good to finally meet you, Y/n. Sorry we haven't met earlier on. My line of work tends to keep me very busy. Megatron was the one who called me over. Luckily for me, I was already in the vicinity investing the area where your brother had his car accident," said Silverbolt.

Y/n takes a quick look at his face. Her brother was right, he kinda did look a bit wolfish. "So what's the situation then?"

"Why are you here?" Edward asks.

"Kinda odd how you show up here again a few days after Nick's accident," said Helen.

"Here's what is going on. Turns out there is rogue Predacon roaming the area which is what injured Icebird."

"I did notice Icebird looked a little scruffy looking when he showed up the other day," said Helen. "What's a Predacon, again?"

Silverbolt, though he didn't show it, got annoyed when Helen asked that question. He takes an extra five minutes to explain what the Maximals and Predacons were doing on Earth, with the help from Dinobot. "Now to get back to what I am saying. You guys are in danger. This Predacon is no ordinary Predacon. He will go out of his way to cause pain and fear."

Y/n let's Silverbolt explain what's going on while she and Dinobot put their belongings into the truck. "So who's driving?"

"I will. I'll drive us there. You may not like it but cannot risk taking the chance of Rampage catching us off guard. We won't stop at any hotel to sleep. We will make stops along the way to eat and stretch our legs and whatever else we need. You may not like it but you'll have to end up sleeping in the truck."

"Wouldn't be the first time. Back when I was moving to Paradise Falls. I had to sleep in the moving truck since I didn't have any money for a hotel or motel room."

"Sacrifices like that have to be made at times. Wait here. I'm going to let your parents know we are heading out," said Dinobot before he heads back inside.

Y/n watches Dinobot go back inside. She never seen him so nervous before. Whoever or whatever Rampage was, Y/n hopes to never meet the guy.
