Melting a Heart of Ice (Beast Wars Dinobot AU x Female Reader)

Playing Catch up

*Y/n's POV*

It was around midnight before Y/n got around to fixing something to est for herself and Dinobot. Cheetor opted out, telling her that she needs to spend time with Dinobot. Y/n opens the cupboard and pulls out a cook book. "Going to do things a little differently."

"What do you mean?" Dinobot asks watching Y/n closely.

"I know there are some foods that you don't like to eat so I think this is one of those occassions where you don't really care what I fix you to eat."

"As long as it has nothing to do with calamari." Dinobot makes a face just thinking about eating it.

"No I'm not fixing calamari. I'm going to fix potato soup. But it will be a bit different." Y/n pulls out the cookware and utinsles she'll need to make the potato soup. "This soup will be made from scratch this time. So we will need to peel a bunch of potatoes."

"How many potatoes?"

"About two pounds worth," said Y/n. She goes into the pantry to grab the potatoes. She turns around and finds herself boxed in the pantry by Dinobot. He had a hungry look to his eyes.

"What if I want you instead of soup?" He leans down and kisses Y/no leaving her flustered and confused.

"We can have our fun later, Dinobot. Right now I'd rather cook you a good meal. To a sense you've been in limbo for three years and I'd rather take things slow. I'm still trying to process you are back from the dead."

*Dinobot's POV*

"As you wish, my dear." Dinobot helps Y/n prepare the potato soup. "Is there anything else I missed while I was gone?"

"I'd rather not talk about it," said Y/n as she peels one of the potatoes.

Dinobot puts his hand on Y/n's shoulder and makes her turn towards him. "What happened while I was gone?"

"A few things. My brother got into another care accident that put him in a month long coma. The accident happened in the same spot. Silverbolt found and caught the guy. Some Cybertronion who hated humans...can't remember his name."

Dinobot makes Y/n look him in the eyes. "You are hiding something."

"I..." Y/n sets the potato and the potato peeler down on the counter. "I had a bit of a scare while you were gone. I was late on my cycle by a few months and thought I was pregnant. Turns out it was just a bad case of stress caused by your death. It scared everyone, Cheetor mostly."

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to put you through all that stress. Let alone a pregnancy scare."

"The funny thing was that Rattrap was looking forward to me having your kid," said Y/n as she laughs sheepishly.

"So the vermin is still around. I think I'll go pay him a visit later."

Later that night, closer to midnight, the moon was full in the sky above. Dinobot had taken Y/n out to the forest so they could have some privacy so she can see his Beast Mode and Robot Mode. "I know I will scare you but promise me you won't run away?" Dinobot asks.

"I won't," said Y/n.

Dinobot leads Y/n into a clearing and heads to the middle to where a rather large willow tree was standing. He stops next to the willow tree. "I promise I won't hurt you, Y/n."

*Y/n's  POV*

Y/n sees Dinobot close his eyes so he could focus on the change to either his Beast Mode or Robot Mode. She sees what appears to be water ripple across his skin and a few seconds later, standing before her, was Dinobot in his new Beast Mode. Y/n takes a step back. What was standing before her was what had appeared in her dreams as a nightmare. The monster she had seen Dinobot turn into in her dreams, was now standing before her. Her nightmare had become a reality. "Dinobot?"

Dinobot walks up to Y/n and rests his snout on her shoulder. "I scared you, didn't I?"

"I had a nightmare when we were at my parents house those years ago..."

"The one that made you not want to go back to sleep?" Dinobot nuzzles Y/n's cheek.

"Yes that is the one."

"I did tell you I've changed." Dinobot takes a few steps back from Y/n. He growls before changing to his Robot Mode. "Yet I'm still me. The one you fell in love with." He holds his hand out to her.

Y/n hesitates at first before stepping towards Dinobot. She takes his hand into her own, trying to take in at his different he was now. She runs her hands along his claws, being careful of the scyth-like claw. "Did it hurt?"

"I felt no pain when the change happened."

Y/n puts her hand on Dinobot's chest plate, feeling his spark pulse beneath her hand. She closes her eyes and listens to the sound it makes in her head as it pulses in time to her own heart beat. "Our bond is still there despite the fact you have a different body."

"Our bond will always be with us despite what happened between us," said Dinobot. He pulls Y/n into his embrace, being careful not to cut her with his sharp digits. "How about we go home. We've been out here long enough."

"What if I don't want to go home?"

"I'd rather not have you eaten up by bugs." Dinobot changes back to his human form. His black t-shirt was slightly tight against his torso. His jeans had a few holes in them. "Besides you did promise me we'd have some fun together," he teases.

Y/n blushes slightly. "That I did. Let's head home then." On their way home, Y/n talks to Dinobot about random things. Didn't matter what it was. She was just happy he was back into her life.
