The warm mug warmed your cold hands. Japan was colder than Korea, and you could feel it. You were wrapped in a large, olive green parka with a warm, mustard sweater underneath. The hot chocolate in your mug warmed your stomach.
You enjoyed your freedom. In the beginning, you were alone, but soon, you got used to it. You started to explore the town. You found this cafe just five minutes from the apartment. It was small but it was warm.
You hadn't heard anything from anyone which surprised you. You knew he promised you freedom, but you expected to be at least contacted a few times. You couldn't even remember the last time you had a full conversation with someone.
You hadn't gotten sick once in the month that you had been in Japan. You never saw red. You were at peace.
"Miss, would you like another one?" you turned to see a small woman behind you. She was pointing at your now empty mug.
"Um, no thank you." you said.
She took the empty mug from your hands, "Have a good day." she gave a small bow. You got up from the couch that you were lounging on. You tightened your jacket around you preparing to face the freezing weather.
You felt your ear twitch; you turned your head. A handsome man was sitting at a table near the back of the cafe. He gave you a toothy smile. You turned back to the door and stepped out onto the street. Something about him wasn't right.
The sidewalk was empty just a few randoms wandered along. You popped some headphones in your ears. Hong Joong gave you a proper phone before you left. Tokyo by RM started playing. It was quite fitting.
You walked along the street. Your apartment was in view. You kept feeling that small twitch in your ear. You turned again seeing the same man following you. You stopped, "Can I help you?" you pulled a headphone from your ear.
"I think you can, Sweetie." the man was in front of you in seconds. He grabbed your arm and pulled you into an alley. He slammed you hard against a wall pinning your arm above your head. He stared at you with hungry eyes. They slowly turned to a solid black.
Vampire. You should have known. You felt a familiar burn in your stomach. You got a burst of giddy energy. It crawled up your spine into the back of your head.
"This will only hurt a little." he smirked.
"Will it?" a wicked smile spread over your lip and your eyes turned red. You hadn't had a good fight in a long time. You were ready this time.
The vampire froze staring into your eyes, "What the fuck are you?" he hissed.
"I'm your worst nightmare, pretty boy." you kneed him hard in the stomach. His hand around your wrist loosened. You ripped your arm free pushing him hard. He went stumbling back hitting the other side of the alley.
He shot back up to his feet. The two of you were now in a stand off. The two of you circled around. You could feel the fire crawling up your arms. The flames started at your hands then it spread to your elbows then shoulders. The man's eyes grew large. He started back in up. Backing away from you.
"Run away, and don't come back." you hissed lunging at the vampire. He squealed and ran off. He disappeared back onto the street.
You landed on your knees. You took a deep breath. You were tired, but you could make it to the apartment. You leaned against the wall helping you get to your feet. You felt light headed, but you knew you could make it.
You have to take care of yourself now. You are strong.
You slowly made you way out of the alley. Your apartment was only a block away.
Be strong.
You stumbled about half of the distance, but your knee gave out and you fell to the ground.
You can make it.
You tried to get back up to your feet, but you were so weak. You began to crawl instead.
You can make it. You are strong. You don't need anyone.
"Do you need help?" you heard a voice, but you tired ignoring it.
"Let me help you." you felt hands around your waist.
"I can make it. I don't need help." you brushed off the hands. You kept crawling, but soon, your arms became too weak.
"Alright, let me help." you felt hands on you again.
"No, I can do i-" but you were too weak to fight back.
"It's okay." you were being picked up from the ground. You were now facing up to the sky. You knew his face. You hadn't seen him since the first day. Jooheon. He carried you into the lobby and then to the elevator.
"How did this happen?" he whispered to anyone who would answer.
"Fire." you whispered it was so faint that you barely heard it.
He looked down at you with a confused look, "Fire?" you didn't say anything. He couldn't know. You finally reached the 12th floor. He carried you down the hall to your room.
"Where are your keys?"
"Pocket." you whispered. Everything was becoming blurry as you went in and out of consciousness. You felt his hand fumbling around your jacket pocket before retrieving the key. He opened your empty apartment and took you to the bed where he lied you down.
"You get some rest." he said. He walked over to the door.
"Thank you." you whispered.
He turned back from the door, "Any time."
