Worth It

You finally opened your eyes to the outside world. You didn't know what to expect, but you were definitely surprised. The door opened up to a yard or yellow dying grass and dried shrubs. A tall fence topped with barbed wire lined the perimeter.

"Isn't it beautiful?" Jimin asked elbowing you lightly.

"Yeah, it's great." you said not so convincingly. This made Jimin burst out laughing.

"It's ugly as fuck." he cried through his laughter.

"Well, yeah but I didn't want to hurt your feelings." You said slapping Jimin's arm again.

"Princess, that hurts." he said pouting his lip like a small child, "Now let's get going before the others wake up." he grabbed your hand dragging you to another worn down building.

"What is this?" you asked as he started typing on a key pad. Before, he could answer your question a large garage door flew open in front of your eyes.

"Woah" you said stepping into the garage. There were multiple clean, shining cars parked neatly in the never ending room. You looked at Jimin who was smiling widely at you.

"We need to take a car to get to town. Pick your favorite." he said waving his hand toward the cars.

"No, I couldn't. I want to see your favorite car." you said to Jimin. His face lit up. He walked past you and straight to a matte black Mercedes G-Wagon.

"This is my baby." He said petting the hood of the car.

"Wow, she is beautiful." you laughed. He just looked so happy over a car. It warmed your heart a little.

You both got into the car, "So where do you want to go first?" he asked pulling the car out of the garage.

"I don't know. Where ever you want to go I guess?"

"Okay then, how about we go by your apartment first then maybe some shopping because we have about four hours before the others wake up." Jimin said punching numbers into another key pad opening a large gate before heading toward Seoul.

"Jimin, I just had a really weird thought. Don't make fun of me, but don't you like burn in the sun light." Jimin started laughing and patted your thigh with his hand.

"No that is a myth in the vampire lore. We don't burn in the sun  unless you consider some pretty awful sunburns."

"Oh, okay well that is good to hear. I don't want you turning into a pile of ash on our adventure." you said giving him a smile.

"Awe, someone cares." he cooed squeezing your thigh. You noticed when he didn't move his hand from your leg, but something in you liked it. Like before, you felt safe in his hold. You started noticing the familiar buildings and land markers. This was your home. You felt love and struggle on these streets.

You watched Jimin out of the corner of your eye. Sometimes he would look at you, but you pretended to look out the window. Every time he turned to look at you, it sent a pulse through your heart. He was different. He didn't have to manipulate you with his eyes; he could just be him and it made you weak.

You felt the car slowing, and you saw why when the tattoo shop came into focus. He parked the car, and you both got out.

What will my boss say? Will she fire me and kick me out?

Jimin could feel your weariness and grabbed your hand giving it a squeeze, "Be strong Princess; I know you got this."

You knew it was something so odd. You were just walking into your old job and your old home, but something about it seemed so odd. You lived in this building not knowing anything about what you know now. You where so innocent and naive.

You walked up to the door looking over at Jimin. He gave your hand a reassuring squeeze as you opened the door.

The shop was the same as you left it. Nothing changed from that one night. Mira, your boss, peaked her head out from behind the counter. She made eye contact with you, and her face broke out into a huge smile.

"Oh, y/n, I missed you so much. I thought you were dead or something. Your room looked destroyed, but then I got a call from a man saying that you were safe and that you wouldn't be in for a while." she looked over her shoulder at Jimin eyeing him up and down. She got really close to your ear and whispered, "If you are being held against your will blink twice."

"Mira, I am okay. This is my friend, Jimin." Jimin reached out his hand and Mira shook it.

"Oh, your hands are really cold."

"Yeah, I get that a lot." Jimin smiled.

"So y/n, are you coming back to work?"

This was the part that you had been dreading, "No Mira, I am sorry, but I have some business to attend to." you said holding both her hands, "I just came to grab a few things from upstairs."

She nodded, "I understand. Just stay safe." She probably thinks I have gotten into some sort of gang trouble or maybe that I am now in a cult. You smiled and bowed to your friend.

"Thank you." you said as you and Jimin stepped past her and towards your old apartment. You stood at the first step of the stairs looking up at the large wooden door. "Watch your step." you warned Jimin.

You opened the door. You were greeted by what used to be your home; however, you kind of relocated. Jimin peaked over your shoulder looking into the room. You didn't want to know what his face was saying. You knew that your old home was no where near the quality of your new one.

You walked to the old wardrobe that was positioned in the corner next to your bed. You opened it grabbing a bag from the top shoving in multiple articles of clothing. You zipped up the bag. Turning toward Jimin; you saw him flipping through your sketch book.

"Hey that is top secret." you said snatching it from your hand.

"Why? You are so talented. Everyone should see it." he said reaching for the book again.

"Nope. These are for my eyes only." you tucked the book into your bag. You walked to the large windows. Staring out of them for the last time. Jimin sat on the edge of the bed.

"This reminds me of my old home." he said, "You know like before the bite."

You sat next to him, "Jimin, is it worth it?"

"Is what worth it?"

"Is the bite worth it. Like immortality and powers, speed, and supersonic hearing are all great things, but is it really worth it?"

"It is weird to describe. In the beginning you are terrified because you don't know what is happening. First, your body changes. Do you really think anyone could be born with this pretty of a face?" he said wiggling his eyebrows, "Your body changes, and then you start hearing things you couldn't before. You are faster than the blink of an eye. You can feel things that others can't. It is a pretty amazing thing, but it does have its down falls. The thirst is so powerful. You have never been so thirsty in your life. It burns everywhere on your body. The first time you feed always ends with a death. You can't hold yourself back. It is just who we become, but was it worth it? Yes, I love myself now. Namjoon found me in a bar drunk out of my mind about to slit my wrists in the bathroom. I hated myself, but now I have found myself, so yes, I believe it is worth it. But it is different for everyone."

His words sunk in. Yes, you become this invincible creature, but it had its set backs, but what doesn't?

He saw you thinking about your decision; he grabbed your hand, "Whatever you decide to do just know I will always have your back." he kissed your hand.

"Thank you Jimin." you pulled him into a hug, but he shoved you off. REALLY  hard. You fall off the bed landing on the floor, "What was that for?" you said angrily glaring at the man.

"You smell too good; I had to or I wouldn't have stopped." You remembered what happened before when your neck got too close to Jungkook's face. Jimin's eyes were dark and the veins on his neck were bulging, but after a few seconds, he was back to the Jimin you knew. I guess you were never truly safe.
