chapter 11: singing

It was Friday and Mikaela had asked me to sing in a local cafe. I didn't want to go, but she knew how good I was in singing so I sorta agreed. Only thing I didn't know was that the twins and sewer rat would be there as well. I bit my bottom lip as I saw them sitting there. I saw Sunstreaker drawing some random things with his finger on the table, as far as I knew, Sides and sewer rat were taking him out more than he wanted, he wanted to draw and repaint his alt-mode not sitting here, they didn't give him the opportunity to do things on his own.

Mikaela followed my gave "You still love Sideswipe huh!" she said. "yeah I do... I long for him!" I whispered. She gave me a sympathy look before she gave me the microphone "At least with signing you can express yourself," she said. "You don't have to announce me!" I told her. She nodded and watched me. It was a small band and they knew me, mostly because of Jazz who had forced me a couple of times to sing.

The music started to play the song 'A light to call me home' by Julia Brennan. My clear voice spread through the room as I started to sing. Some people looked at me and so did Sideswipe as he noticed, I ignored him totally. Sunstreaker looked up as well and smiled at me, which I returned weakly before I continued with singing.

"But they have no idea, through these tears, through and through this pain..." I sang looking around the crowd, I did sing this with all the sadness I had deep inside and that was making the song so powerful right now.

"Cause I may be homeless, but not hopeless fatherless but fearless, I've got myself and I've got my freedom, but I am searching for my home,"

I noticed I was getting a little bit emotional as well, music and art was for me a way to express what I was feeling, my mother always said, if you can't say it then sing it and I was doing that right now, I was singing what was buried so deep inside of me.

"Cause I am hurting but not helpless...full of strength and scars I am out here in the darkness, looking for a light, to call home,"

"fear... that's all I own, smiles don't come that easy, I am out here all alone... you have got it good, believe me... through these tears and through his pain..." I continued. I was totally absorbed in the song until I sang the last sentence "I am out here in the darkness... looking for a light to call home..."

It was totally quiet when the song ended it and I didn't know where to look, often I was wondering if this was good or not, but by seeing the emotional faces around me, I knew I had hit them with this song. I looked at the ground for a moment before I looked at someone from the bad to help me out.

I looked back at the crowd as they started to clap, and stood up, it was making me shy. I saw Sideswipe staring at me, ignoring his twin and sewer rat beside him. I didn't look at him, I knew I would burst into tears if I did.

I did some other song, who were less emotional, as I was done I got up and sighed deeply while they gave me standing ovation. I left the pub quietly, without saying anything else. I didn't want to talk to Sideswipe nor with sewer rat or with Sunny. I just wanted to be alone. Only Mikaela knew I left the place.

As I got back at the base, Jazz was there and smirked "How did it go? I wish I was there to hear you sing!" he said. I huffed "it was same as always!" I told him. he hummed "Still... I love to hear you sing!" he said. I snorted and followed him through the halls to where his alt-mode was parked. "Do you want to sing? one song all I ask!" he stated. I huffed and rolled my eyes "One song! all I ask!" he stated. "Okay! fine!" I said.

"Which one?" I asked. "I don't wanna see you with her from Maria Mena!" he stated. "What?! Why that song?! isn't there another song you want me to sing?" I asked. "No I want this song!" he stated while looking innocently at me "love song isn't really your thing!" I noticed. "But you sing them with passion! I want to hear you sing this!" he said. "Okay... fine!" I sighed. "Great!" he said while the song started to play over his radio.

I started singing but noticed I was a bit uneasy, this room was large and my voice echoed through the large hanger. "They say you have a new love, I'm happy for you, love. I just don't wanna meet her... Are you gonna keep her?"

Jazz sat down on his hood and listened carefully to me, though, I wondered if he was recording this. " Cause I don't wanna see you with her. I don't wanna see her face, Resting in your embrace Her feet standing in my place I don't wanna see you moved onI don't think that I'm that strong..."

I continued singing until the last sentence "cause I don't wanna see her with you..." I sighed deeply and looked at the mech "Good enough?" I asked as the music stopped playing. Jazz smirked and nodded "Perfect!" he said while he stood up. "It was amazing! I didn't know you were so good at singing!" Sunstreaker said making me jump a little. I looked at the mech and blushed a little "Have you heard everything?" I asked. "Big part yes," he said while approaching.

"Can you dance?" Sunstreaker asked. "Jazz taught me somethings..." I said shyly. Sunny made a bow "May I ask you to dance with me?" he asked. Jazz smirked and stepped back "Charming side, sunstreaker?" he asked with a smirk. "I wanna know if she is just as good in singing as in dancing!" he told him before he spans me around.

As Jazz started to play music, Sunstreaker was leading me through the hanger, holding me tight to his chest. I tried not to make any mistakes but if I did he helped me, I now noticed how graceful he moved. I was totally absorbed by him, the only thing I was focusing on was Sunstreaker who was leading me, making me forget about everything. For three minutes straight, all I could think off was Sunstreaker, I hadn't even noticed Sideswipe in the doorway, watching us.

I wrapped my arms around his neck as the song stopped, he looked into my eyes, his lips were just inches away from mine, our eyes were locked. Sideswipe cleared his throat making me step back and Sunstreaker fix his hair. "Impressive! maybe you should do the same with Ally!" Sideswipe said, I heard the hostility in his voice, it reminded me I wasn't good enough. I stepped away from the two brothers.

"I gotta go... thanks Jazz... Sunny," I said. "It's Sunstreaker! Only I call him Sunny! got it!" Sideswipe suddenly spat, making me jumped away from him. "It's my name! if I allow her to call me that then she is allowed to call me that! Clear!" Sunstreaker snapped. Sideswipe huffed and watched me leave, while I felt the tears sting in my eyes. I huffed and walked away, not wanting to stay a moment longer...
