Chapter Forty-Three;
My eyes fluttered open and that was when it hit me, I groaned quietly placing my hand on my forehead and rolling over to my side, the pain was so intense, I slowly heaved myself up on the big double bed I was on. I frowned scanning my surroundings...I didn't recognise the room, it smelt familiar though but I just didn't know who it smelt like at that moment. I pushed the thick duvet cover off my body only to gasp and pull the cover back over my half-naked body...what the hell did I do last night? I leaned against the headboard trying to remember what happened at Janet's party I closed my eyes my eyebrows furrowed in frustration as I collected my jumbled thoughts of what happened yesterday. There was music...drink, I remember seeing Kadeem and Yasmine, I remember Daniel whispering in my ear asking whether I was feeling alright...I remember the drink, oh my...up to that point is where my mind looses focus, I can't remember anything up to that point. My eyes snap open and I look down to find my clothes trailing on the carpet, I sighed heavily feeling deeply ashamed of myself as I quickly made my way out of the bed and picked up my jeans. Suddenly the bedroom door slowly creaked open and I looked up to find Daniel carefully making his way into the room in nothing but his boxer shorts, I stood upright in shock...oh my God.
"Oh my God," I said out loud.
He smiled at me, "How you feelin'?" he asked, coming towards me and putting his hands on my waist.
"I..." I stopped, staring up at his face in shock, then I looked down at his body then back up at his face, he leaned in and kissed me softly on the lips. I paused for a moment taking it all in. "I need to go," I told him as I removed his hands off from my waist and slid my legs into my jeans.
"Jaida..." he started but I brushed past him, hurriedly placing my feet into my heels, before walking out of the bedroom, down the stairs and into the familiar-looking hallway, just then a mental image of Daniel leaning me against the wall, his hands wondering my body slid into my head as it all started coming back to me.
"Oh no...no...no!" I groaned leaning against the wall my eyes squeezed shut gently banging my head against it. This is why Jaida doesn't drink because things like this happen suddenly I heard a familiar tune that began to play, I frowned opening my eyes as I realised it was my ring tone that was playing, I quickly opened my handbag and dug through my things searching for my phone, it wasn't there. I started scanning my surroundings as the music began to get louder, I briefly looked up to find Daniel making his way down the stairs holding my phone which was ringing in his hand when he was close enough he answered it and handed it to me. I took it out of his hand, briefly looking at the screen: it was Shane. I put the phone to my ear. "Yeah, hello?" I said into the phone.
"Oi, where you at?" he demanded to know.
"Why?" I snapped back feeling very irritated, who was he to be asking about my where-a-bouts?
"Because you're not in your house with our daughter and your dad had to go out leaving me with her," he explained.
"So from that couldn't you work out that I went out?" I asked, "I'm on my way now, anyways." I added.
"Hurry up," he said before locking off on me, leaving me the tone to fill my ears. I groaned out loud in frustration before stabbing the hanging up button and placing my phone into my bag. I looked up and found Daniel gazing back at me which instantly made me feel self-conscious. "I have to go..." I stated in a soft voice while he nodded.
"See you around yeah?" he answered in an equally quiet voice, we stood motionless for a moment staring into each other's faces before I snapped out of my trance and walked towards the front door letting myself out, I wasn't prepared for the sharp wind that started to blow against my skin and lift my hair up into the air. I walked up Janet's road towards the bus stop my teeth chattering uncontrollably. When I got to the bus stop I sat on the bench underneath the shelter and decided to text Bri:
