Chapter Twenty-Seven;

"Shane is one twisted mother f*cker," Bri stated, "If you want me to be honest with you babes, this doesn't look good."

"I know, I know," I replied, sighing. "I wish I never invited him, but I wanted to do things properly...I want my baby to have her dad."

"I think it's too late to do things properly, from when you accidentally got pregnant, your 'properly' went out the window boy," Bri laughed, making me smile a bit because of the way she said it.

"Yeah, you know what I mean. I want my baby daddy to be there..."

"But when your baby daddy is someone like Shane, that can't happen,"

"Bri come on now, stop acting like he ain't got a bit of good in him, he was one of your best friends at one point in your life," I said.

"Yeah but that was when Shane was good but did bad things to be respected by his boys, but now he's Shane who is just bad full stop." She answered.

I pause, thinking about this, I didn't really agree, "He has got good in him, I know it. I lived with this boy for two years; he was my first real boyfriend,"

"This boy is your weakness," she said and I heard her sigh down the phone, "You need to wake up and smell the coffee, accept the fact that no amount of saying he's got good in him is going to make him good, Jaida. Shane is just bad, full stop, there's nothing else needed to say. As time goes by people change and yeah maybe once Shane wasn't all bad we just didn't like the messed up sh*t he got himself in, but after a while of doing something it become part of your daily routine and soon part of your life and who you are. Jaida, Shane hit you...no matter what the reason, no matter how high he was, drunk whether the boy was thinking straight or not it goes without saying NO MAN SHOULD EVER PUT THEIR HANDS ON A WOMAN. You think Chris Brown is ever going to live what he did to Rihanna down?" I started laughing as she continued her speech, "No, it's even been named after him "don't make me do a Chris Brown on you" that is his business, that's what comes when people think "Chris Brown" now. When we think Shane we think rapist, controlling, crazy black boy who talks to his girl like she's a child in need of discipline. You know all of this Jaida so why are you still defending him?" she asked me, a little out of breath because she was talking bare fast. Why was I defending him? I stayed quiet as I thought. "PLEASE do not tell me you still have feelings for this boy?" she groaned. "Why do so many girls love this boy off?!" she shouted, asking herself. "I don't understand."

"I don't," I reassured her, "I'm with Kadeem, I love Kadeem, always have...remember?"

"What, is it official now?" she asked.

"I think so," I smiled.

"Kadeem is meant to be Shane's boy though, I know how Shane's mind works." She said.

"So do I," I told her. "I know he's angry, but he needs to get over it...I don't want to be with him,"

"Do you think Shane cares about that?" Bri snorted.

"Argh, Bri this Shane talk is stressing me out for real -" I was interrupted by a sudden knock on my bed room door. "Come in," I called and then the door opened and Rex stepped inside, closing the door softly behind him, I grinned at him but stayed seated on my bed waiting for him to walk over to me and give me a hug. He knew this and deliberately walked to my desk and opened my lap top. I kissed my teeth loudly.

"Who's in your room?" Bri asked curiously.

"Rex," I said to her. "He can't say hi or nothing, just goes straight for the lap top like he ain't' got one at home." I screwed the back of his head, noticing he got a fresh shape-up. "Rex," I called, laughing because he's being bare quiet.
