An hour later Jamal left, I gave him his chicken and we sat on my bed talking, I actually loved this boy. When he got up to leave we shared a big, long hug.
"You know you're like the little sister I never had," he said in my ear, while I looked up at him and kissed him on his cheek. "Aww," I grinned. "I love you King Jay," I said, making him chuckle because I haven't called him that in a long time.
"I'm gonna go now, get some sleep before Janelle wakes up," he told me as he walked out of my room, I followed him to the front door, when he stepped out of it I closed it softly. It was now quarter-past eleven, Ramal wasn't home which was weird but he was a grown man who could look after himself so I wasn't too worried about it. Even though I knew I should get some sleep before Janelle starts screaming down the place and I would regret not sleeping I just couldn't sleep. What Shane said to me kept playing in my mind it was so hard to keep my cool when Jamal was there but I couldn't tell him, I didn't want him to get involved or give his opinion of the situation because I know what he's going to say something negative and I really don't need to be hearing this right now. I picked up my phone and tried to call him again because there was no way I was letting that girl in my house, how could the thought even cross his mind? I pressed the phone on my ear anxiously as it started to ring, after about seven rings he answered his phone.
"Hello?" a familiar-sounding female voice said.
"Can I speak to Shane please?" I asked, I was guessing it was this Tiana chick...it was so hard to be polite, but I think my voice came across as nice and pleasant, why was I being so polite anyway? There was a bit of shuffling about and the girl started giggling, I rolled my eyes and breathed out impatiently.
"Shane is kind of busy right now," she said after a few seconds. "But I'm his girl Olivia, so if you have anything to say to Shane you can say it to me as well..."
"Olivia?!" I exclaimed.
She paused. "Jaida...?" she said as she realised who I was.
I was so confused, what was going on through Shane's head? I felt to hang up because this girl made me sick, "You're Shane's girl now?" I said, half-laughing.
"Yes I am," she replied with a little attitude.
"Ok then," I answered, I couldn't be bothered to argue with this girl because she really wasn't worth it.
"I'll tell Shane you called," she said before hanging up on me.
I stared at my phone in disbelief before placing it back down on my bed-side table...Shane hasn't changed, he's still messing with these girl's heads and still up to no good and he wants to bring one of his hoes to MY house? He nearly had me back under his trap...I actually believed that this boy could be capable of changing for the better, I thought I saw that nicer, softer side of him, a side of him that I used to know, a side he only showed me because he trusted me enough to show me. I thought the birth of Janelle made him see he couldn't keep going on the way he does and he needs to mature and become a dad.
Well, I thought wrong.
I woke up the next morning in a really bad mood, when Janelle started crying Ramal volunteered to bathe her and feed her and that, I was grateful because I had developed a back ache over-night and I just didn't feel myself. I had an extra long bath and it took me longer to get ready than usual and it wasn't like I was going anywhere but I didn't feel right that morning.
"You don't look too good," Ramal commented when I slowly walked out of my room towards the kitchen.
"Thanks," I mumbled sarcastically, as I made circular motions on my forehead to ease the sharp shooting pains that I had started to get. I groaned out loud as I dragged my feet into the kitchen and opened one of the cupboards, "Dad, have we got any pain-killers?" I called.
