Chapter Seventy-One;
I twisted the key through the keyhole before pushing the door and letting myself into my flat, my eyelids felt heavy, it had only turned eleven but I was exhausted. All night I had been ignoring Daniel's calls which started after around eight. The third time he rang I remember Bri looking curiously over my shoulder. "Aren't you going to answer that?" she whispered to me.
"Nope," I breathed out casually as I leaned back on Rex's sofa with my slice of Pepperoni Super Supreme pizza in my hand, my other hand was holding the kitchen towel which hovered underneath it.
"But don't you want to know what really went down?" Bri questioned me, her perfectly threaded eyebrows furrowing.
"I don't want to hear it right now." I told her honestly before taking a bite from my pizza.
The whole night I tried to get involved with the group discussions and attempted to crack joke, but underneath my smiles and laughter, although I was genuinely enjoying myself, this worrying, sickly feeling continued to stab me in the pit of my stomach as I couldn't completely remove the picture of Daniel and Melissa in my head. And as much as I hated having all these doubts and questions about this whole situation...part of me was afraid about what I was going to hear. I was automatically expecting the worst because, well, it was just typical of my life just as everything seemed to be going suspiciously good something will always emerge and burst my bubble. I just didn't want to hear it at that moment, I couldn't be let down once again...not by Daniel.
I softly shut my front door before trudging towards my bedroom where I unpeeled my top from my body, took off the rest of my clothes, putting on my pyjamas before climbing into my bed. Just as I was drifting to sleep the sound of my ring tone abruptly woke me up, my eyes snapped open before yawning and stretching my body over towards my bed-side table where I picked up my phone and peered at the screen, the flashing screen alerted me that Daniel was calling, I sighed as I rejected the call and placed my phone back on the bed-side table, it started ringing again almost immediately. I sat up on my bed and watched as my phone vibrated violently and rang continuously on my bed-side table when my phone stopped ringing the fourth time, I received a text which I reluctantly opened:
