Logan X Reader: A Shocking Loss (One-Shot!)

It had been two months since Professor Xavier had been killed by Jean Grey. Logan hadn’t come out of his room ever since he came back from Jean’s house, you decided that it was time you cheered Logan up, you knocked on his door hoping he would answer. But unfortunately, there was nothing, you sighed and opened the door seeing Logan lying on his stomach on his bed in nothing but his boxers.

“Logan?” You asked seeing a bottle of Jack Daniels next to his bed, you sighed knowing he was most likely passed out or drunk, you sniffed Logan, he didn’t reek of alcohol, shockingly.

Logan opened one of his eyes looking at you strangely, “The hell you doin?” Logan asked.

You squeaked in startle, “I was just checking on you… That’s all…” You muttered softly.

“Get out” Logan said sternly.

“Logan… We’re all upset about Professor Xavier okay…” You muttered, “You need to get out Logan and walk around the school, go outside, something” You said.

Logan got out of bed and stood, he was all sweaty and flexing his muscles.

You blushed quickly trying not to look at Logan’s tight abs.

“Go on, go get dressed and we can take a walk our something” You said.

Logan didn’t say anything; all he did was send you a glare.

“Go get dressed!” You said more harshly.

“Get out” Logan growled picking up a bottle of Jack Daniels, he opened it about to take a sip but you grabbed it from him and put it on the coffee table crossing your arms staring at Logan.

“We are all mourning Xavier’s death, but none of us are hiding in our rooms, ignoring everyone and drinking our sorrows away!” You shouted as you tried your best to hold back your tears; Professor Xavier was like a father to you.

Logan was silent and just looked at you, a bit of concern in his eyes.

You quickly turned around wiping a few tears that managed to stream down your cheeks; you turned around and quickly looked down, “Nevermind…” You muttered softly heading for the door.

Logan grabbed your arm and turned you around pulling you close.

“He was like a father to me… He saved me from my abusive father and my druggie mother…” You muttered softly slowly hugging Logan.

“Hey, he was like a brother to me… He helped me remember my past, he helped me figure out who I was, what they did to me…” Logan muttered softly.

“Really?” You looked up at Logan.

“Yeah…” Logan sighed, “He helped me through tough times, he was the only one who really understood what I went through…” Logan said.

You looked up at Logan and kissed his cheek.

Logan looked down at you, he was much taller then you, by like two feet, he turned around and slipped some jeans and a plaid shirt on, “Let’s go then” Logan muttered softly.

You took Logan’s hand in yours and led him out of the school and onto the field, you walked over to a small picnic that you had set up for you and Logan, you sat down and gave Logan a warm smile.

Logan sat down next to you looking at you strangely.

“What?” You asked.

“Nothing…” Logan muttered.

“Really… What is it?” You asked wondering why Logan kept staring at you.

“You’re the only one I’ve talked to since Xavier died, don’t go telling anyone about how I feel okay” Logan said sternly, “I don’t want anyone to think I’m soft or something” Logan muttered.

“Why do you think it’s such a bad thing?” You asked.

“I’m the Wolverine, I’m tuff and a badass, and I don’t want anyone thinking I’m a teddy bear or something…” Logan said sternly, “You have any beer in that picnic basket of yours princess?” Logan asked.

“Who could forget the beer?” You asked opening the picnic basket pulling out two ice cold beers.

Logan grinned and easily opened his beer with his bare hand.

You looked at your beer and tried to open it but couldn’t, “Could you um… Possibly open my beer for me?” You asked looking at him smiling innocently.

“Sure…” Logan took your beer and opened it handing it back to you.

You smiled and clinked your beer with Logan’s taking a sip.

“Cheers” He muttered before taking a sip of his beer.

You smiled and pulled out a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, “Sandwich?” You asked looking at Logan.

“What kind you got?” Logan asked.

“I made a bacon, avocado, turkey, cheese, and onion sandwich, peanut butter and jelly, tuna, egg” You said looking at Logan wondering which one he wanted.

“I’ll take the bacon one” Logan muttered taking another sip of his beer.

You hesitantly took out the sandwich, “Um…” You looked at Logan.

“What?” Logan asked.

“That’s my sandwich” You smiled softly, “How about we share?” You asked.

“Sure” Logan chuckled.

“I have nothing to cut it in half with…” You searched the picnic basket not finding anything useful, you pulled out some fruit salad and can of whipped cream.

Logan’s middle claw came out, “Give it here” Logan said carefully cutting the sandwich in half, he handed a half to you, he then licked his claw, it retracted and then he took a bite of his sandwich.

“Were you implying anything?” You asked.

“No” Logan laughed realizing he had put his middle claw up at you, “Sorry, I didn’t mean that” Logan chuckled.

“So, I’ve heard around the school that when you first came here, you had no idea about your past?” You looked at Logan curiously.

“Well… Xavier helped me remember who I was… He read my mind a fair bit but told me that I should just let the memories come back to me over time” Logan said having a bit of a hard time talking about Xavier.

You gently grasped Logan’s hand looking at him concerned; “Go on” You said gently squeezing his hand.

“I had a lot of nightmares after that… Horrible nightmares… But Xavier was the only one who reached out to me and helped me through the nightmares and flashbacks…” Logan muttered softly.

“Xavier came to me when I was 8, my parents wouldn’t allow it… Then he came back when I was 15… My parents still wouldn’t allow it… Xavier stayed over once to have some tea and he found my father beating me… He took me in and brought me to the school…” You muttered softly.

Logan looked at you surprised.

“I found out a few years later that my parents had died from overdose on heroin but I didn’t care much, they didn’t care about me anyways…” You muttered softly, “He was like a father to me…” You sighed.

Logan put his sandwich down and hugged you tightly, “It’s okay… I completely understand how you feel…” Logan whispered to you gently squeezing you.

You hugged back smiling, “I’m so happy we opened up with each other, I feel so much better” You muttered softly.

“Me too…” Logan smiled kissing your cheek.

You blushed and giggled nudging Logan playfully, “You are totally a teddy bear” You laughed, Logan looked at you, “Am not, I ain’t a teddy bear” Logan muttered, “Your my teddy bear then” You giggled and ate your sandwich.

Logan smiled and couldn’t help but chuckle, he felt much better now, of course it would take some time getting over Xavier, but in a way, you were an escape from the depression of Xavier’s death. Logan knew you and him were definitely going to be friends for a long time and he would be there if you were down in the dumps too.
