I can't believe we are having this conversation right now. "Why are you telling us this Mom?" I ask looking from her to my Step Father. Ricardo "Ricky" Alvarez. My Step brother Rodrick "Roddi" did the same thing.

"Be mature about this Dylan. You two are almost adults. Ricky and I just want a chance at another baby." Mom said.

Another baby? Really.

"I still don't get why you're telling us. Like we would care?" Roddi said getting off they couch. 19 and still acts like a child. And I'm the 18 year old.

I was born in Texas and I was raised there until I was eleven. My mom had meet Ricky and they married two years later. I finally met Roddi once our parents were married. He was living with his mother's family in Tennessee. He's a year older than me. When I was 16 we moved to New York. I plan to go to NYU once I graduate high school.

"I'll go talk to him." I say getting up and making my way to Roddi's bedroom.

I knock on the door even though it's not closed. Roddi looks up from his iPad. "Yeah?" He asked.

I shrug my shoulders. "You know I'm not one hundred percent okay with this new baby either." I say leaning against the door.

"Yeah, but I feel bad for you." Was his response. A puzzled look fell across my face. I know because Roddi put the iPad down on his bed.

"What I mean is, I can leave whenever I want. I'm nineteen. You on the other hand still need to graduate. It's the middle of November. You will have to be around whenever Angela is having pregnancy symptoms." Roddi goes on and on about how horrible the new baby will be for me.

"Worse of all, the baby is a product of my Dad and your Mom. I mean I got to meet my grandparents. You don't even know..." Roddi stopped himself.

And what he was going to say was right. I don't know my family. My grandpa died when I was eleven and that crushed my mom. I don't know anything about my grandma or my Dad. Ricky and Roddi were the only family I've ever known besides my Mom.

"You're right. I guess you'll be staying at The Lilac a lot more huh?" I said looking down at the floor. 'The Lilac' is a bar Ricky's family owns and is the reason we moved to New York. Although he's a military man, Ricky has been released from the army as a thanks for his achievements.

"Probably." Roddi shrugged. I looked up to see his reaction. "It's late Dilly," He started. I looked over at his alarm clock. 10:52pm. "You should get to bed."

I groaned. "Oh please let me stay home big brother," I teased. "The stress is deafening. The anxiety is awfully unappealing." I place my hand over my forehead as if I'd faint.

Roddi smiles and tosses a hoodie at me. "Keep it up and I'll have Angela take you to the doctor." I held my hands up in surrender and he shook his head.

I made my way to my room with Roddi's hoodie in hand. He usually lets me take it when school is just too much for me. As I lay in bed I wonder, Will this new baby be just what I need, or what could make me lose it all?
