New Years

Josh decided to make popcorn as I was talking to Maya, Riley, Farkle and Lucas on video chat. Maya and Farkle were at Maya's and Lucas was over at Riley's. When they joked about how this year was going to be the best one yet I couldn't help but smile. Everyone was with someone they care about.

"Where Josh?" Maya asked.

Josh sat down on the couch next to me.

"There he is." Lucas said smiling into the screen.

"Two minutes until midnight." Farkle said checking his watch. He wrapped one arm around Maya.

"Ooooooo." Lucas and Riley said and Maya scrunched her face at them.

"Is it your first night at Josh's?" Farkle asked.

I nod. "He's place is pretty cozy."

We were sitting in the living room which was directly across from the kitchen. In between the two is a small staircase. It maybe had four steps that led to a hallway. He has a small laundry room, a guest bedroom, a bathroom next to the laundry room and his room which also has a bathroom.

"You guys should visit some time." Josh said as he took a handful of popcorn and popped it into his mouth. One piece dropped into his lap and I quickly picked it up before it fell on the floor.

He smiled and I popped it into my mouth.

"Dad is starting the count down." Riley said.

"Five." Said Riley.

"Four." Said Maya.

"Three." I said.

"Two." Said Farkle.

"One." Lucas and Josh said at the same time.

Riley and Lucas hugged each other while screaming, "Happy New Year!"

Farkle and Maya shared a kiss as Josh leaned in and kissed my cheek.

The call ended in laughter while Josh was in the kitchen putting away the popcorn. I closed the laptop and sat on the couch rubbing my head.

It was late but I still had a bit of energy. Josh came back with two cups of cherry kool-aid. He wrapped one arm around me while I drank my drink.

When I was done Josh tried to lean on for a kiss. I put my finger to his lips and said, "I'm kinda tired.."

He frowned and nodded as I stood up. I watched his facial expression as he looked down at the floor. God why do I love messing with him?

I bent down and lifted his head with my finger. "I'm messing with you Matthews."

He smiled and put his hands on my hips as I leaned in for a kiss. One kiss led to another and I was in his lap kissing him on his couch. It was maybe ten minutes later and Josh's phone rang.

"Hey Corey." He said and moved me off his lap and walked into the kitchen while carrying on with his conversation. That's when I thought it would be funny to mess with him again.

I followed him to the kitchen. His back was to me and he was looking down at the counter while he talked. "No, I haven't heard from Eric."

I walked up behind him and wrapped my arms around his waist. He placed his free hand on mine. I slowly moved my hands and was able to unbuckle his belt. When I gave it a tug he was quick to stop me while trying to act normal. I jumped up on the counter and laughed to myself.

He hung up the phone and leaned against the same counter and chuckled. "Smooth Moore."

I smiled. "What can I say? I'm the best at messing with people."

Josh raised his eyebrows and held his hands out to help me down. When I jumped down he wrapped one hand around my hip and spun me into the fridge. My heart started to beat quickly in my chest. With his free hand he held my hands above my head.

"Are you sure?" He said with a smirk on his face. I bit my lip watching him look back at me. He then began to kiss me slowly. The butterflies were probably the best feeling in the world at this moment.

Sadly, Josh's phone rang again. He went to answer it and his grip on my hands was so loose I could slip away. Which I did.

"Hey Ma, Dad. Yes, Corey called me. Happy new year."

Light bulb! I could probably get him one more time. So why waste the opportunity?

I wrapped my arms around his neck. He began to rub my back which was very comforting. Too bad I didn't have a good intention. I could hear his parents talking so I tilted my head and started to nibble on his neck.

I could hear his breathing become uneven. I stopped when his parents asked if he was okay. I moved away from him and walked to the small staircase.

"Okay, I love you guys too. Alright bye." I heard Josh hang up.

When I saw him he was glaring at me. I laughed nervously. "Too much?"

He nodded. "Very."

When he began to move towards me I shrieked and ran up the stairs and down the hall. "Lydia!"

I giggled as I ran into his room and closed the door behind me. I watched the door as he came inside. He was out of breath.

"Already?" I started to laugh but was cut off when his lips crashed into mine. This kind of kissing was one we haven't done before. In the park it was loving and soft. In the kitchen it was slow and irresistible. Now, now it was passionate. So passionate it was like he was hungry.

A good twenty minutes later I'm stretching in his bed with one of his T-shirts on. Josh has just come back from the bathroom. He sat down on the edge of the bed. His back was to me, "the bathroom is all yours."

I smiled and patted his back and he winced. Oops. "Sorry bear bear." I heard him mumble as I went into the bathroom.

When I looked at myself in the mirror, I smiled. I like the girl who was looking back at me. A girl who loved herself.

When I came back to bed Josh wrapped his arms around me and struggled into my neck. "Goodnight bunny."

I sighed. "Goodnight Joshua."

"Did you hear? Smackle and Sarah aren't together anymore." Lucas said looking up at the ceiling. He was staying and sleeping in the bay window.

Riley did the same the only difference was she was laying in her own bed.

"Missy and Sarah posted about it." She said with a sigh.

"Is she okay?"

"She'll be alright."

There was a pause. "I never did like that girl."

"Sarah or Missy?"

Riley sat up in bed and Lucas looked over at her. "Right."

"She only used you Lucas. You were emotionally vulnerable." Riley said.

Lucas sighed. "Yeah, she's a real bitch."

Riley smiled. "Now I don't like to speak badly on people as much as to call them names but yes. She is."

Lucas thought for a moment. "Thanks for letting me stay here tonight Riles."

"What are friends for?"

Maya woke up at 8am to her phone being completely dead. She and Farkle had talked all night after he left. They talked about everything. Their friendship, their feelings, Riley and Lucas. Josh and Dylan. Even about their parents. It was nice.

What isn't nice is having to wait an hour for you phone to charge back up again. Now that's how you know someone cares about you. When they are willing to be with you without being with you.

Maya smiled. Last night everyone was happy. Spending time with who they care for. Everyone was as they should be.

For now that is.
