Boy meets Girl

When we got over to Josh he seemed unreadable. He was the one to speak first.

"Who's this?" He asked nodding towards Daniel.

"The name is Daniel, Dylan's favorite shoulder to cry on." Daniel holds his hand out and shakes Josh's hand.

Afterwards I smack him in the back of the head. "Ow! Damn not so hard!" He whines but was smirking.

I smack him again just for repeating the word.

"Bitch." He mumbled under his breath and I was now satisfied I got him to shut up.

"What are you doing here Bunny?" Josh asked.

I rub my arm and looked down.

Josh nudged me with his foot. He was sitting on some part of the staircase while the other sat under him on the bench. Except Sophie.

"Hi Sophie!" Daniel said with too much enthusiasm.

She smiled and waved at him.

I sighed and finally answered Josh. "I called you, um Avery and Jasmine wanted to see the school."

He raised his eyebrows.

"They thought I'd be a good tour guide.."

"And she was until she ran into that sh*thead." Jasmine said nodding towards Daniel.

"You're just mad because I'm not friends with any of your siblings!" Daniel stuck his tongue out at her while she rolled her eyes.

Josh nodded and didn't make eye contact.

"Your his girlfriend, Dylan right?" Sophie asked with a smile.

"Yes ma'am! Lydia here has been with Josh for almost Uh..." Daniel tried to guess but gives up.

God. Give me strength to be around this walking headache.

Sophie carefully got down and reached her hand out for me to shake, "I'm Sophie."

I took her hand and I noticed something while shaking it. She's wearing a ring. An engagement ring.

"You're engaged." I blurted out. I could feel my cheeks turn red. Sophie chuckled. "Yeah. Jason, my fiancé proposed last night. We've been together for god, I can't remember life without him."

What the hell was I so scared of?

"Props for putting up with him." Sophie points at Daniel who is now debating with Jasmine and Avery about Jasmine's hair color.

"God help me if he's going to be my brother in law."

I smile.

Andrew clears his throat and Charlotte stands up. "We have a test in a few minutes. We should get going."

She and Andrew make their way inside while Sophie checks the time. "I need to go too. I have my first ultrasound today."

And she's pregnant? I need to have a long conversation with myself tonight.

Josh congratulated her and she hurried in the opposite direction of the school.

Now it was just us..

Josh got up. We stood face to face.  He was quiet. I don't like this silence.

"Honey Bear what's wrong?" I ask taking his hands into mine. He squeezes them but he still won't make eye contact with me.

"Did I say something?"

He shakes his head no.

"Hey," I reach out and touch his cheek. He finally looks at me.

"Are you a Virgin?" He blurts out.

"What?" I asked and we sit down on the bench.

"You know what it's none of my business." He says crossing him arms while watching Jasmine and Avery give Daniel a make over. Avery's vest was already over his head while Jasmine's shades shielded his brown eyes.

I rest my head on my hand while my body is turned towards Josh.

"Does that worry you?" I ask. "Who I may or may not have been with?"

"I just wanted to ask because I don't know little things like that when it comes to you."

I blinked a few times. He ran his hands through his hair.

I reach out and place my hand on his knee. He looks at me and places his hand over mine.

"I am not a virgin." I say with a pout. Josh laughs nervously.

"Are you?"

"Uh... no." He responded.

I bit my lip and I think for a second. "I have a key to your heart, and your apartment." I say and Josh smirks. "Yeah?"

"How about I stay the night in New Years?" I suggest sitting on my knees.

Josh laughs and takes a deep long breath.

I watch him think as if he's looking for an excuse for me not to.

"Joshua!" I laugh and shove his shoulder.

"Lydia!" He mocks me.

"It's a simple yes or no."

"Then yes."

I can feel my heart beating fast in my chest. His breathing suggested his was doing the same. He smiled. He turned his body towards me and made room between his legs so I could be closer to him.

I leaned in and kissed him. He kissed back and I could feel his hands on my waist.

I know we were kissing for less than a minute when I heard,

"Hey! Get a room you two!"

Followed by two girls laughing because they had jumped on his back.

I pulled away and smiled. "Yeah," I kissed his nose. "We should get a room."
