This is a realistic fiction novel - the characters and story are purely fictional, the references to places, objects and events may be real.
The mid-90s were a powerful time for the teenagers trying to figure out who they were in that time, any similarities between real people and events is coincidental.
There is strong language in this novel. I can't speak for everyone, but in my day, we had one set of language we used with our parents and another with our friends (and in our heads). That second language very much included a testing out and embrace of four-letter words.
