I felt her limp body leaning against me as we were on the horse, hoping beacon town was near. It'd been a few months since we've visited, and there wasn't any civilized places anywhere near. My stomach churned at the thought of what could possibly be wrong with Petra. I gripped the reins on the horse, pulling them back slightly as the gates of beacon town came into view. Normally I'd feel happy; excited, but it was hard to under the circumstances. As I entered; I noticed it was strangely quiet - then I remembered for all I knew; it could be 3 in the morning. Petra was out like a light, and I tied the horse to a tree, nudging Petra, hoping she was awake. No such luck. I sighed, taking her in my arms; she wasn't really that heavy. I bit my lip, looking around. This was no longer my town, but to the people of beacon town it was - still, I didn't know my way around too well. I know where Lukas's house was. I jogged over to it; seeing the familiar home come into view. I took a deep breath before knocking on the door; unsure of whether he would answer or not. Part of me hoped he didn't answer - which was absurd - because I've had my fair share of nightmares; the ones that kept you up all night and had you pondering your existence, dreading every time the sun disappeared over the horizon. My heart fluttered when I saw the door click open, and Lukas pop his head out of the crack of the door.

"Who is - oh! Jesse?" He opened the door all the way, and his expression changed to worried. "What happened?" He asked, glancing at the limp form at Petra in my arms. "I don't know! I'll explain later, can we just get her into a bed or something?" I asked, my voice quivering in fear of what was wrong with Petra. He let us in, leading us to a guest room, where I put Petra down on one of the beds. "Now what!?" Lukas asked, running his hands through his matted hair. "We wait." I said, monotone. I quickly filled Lukas in on what happened, and he made me a cup of tea as we sat on the couch. "Should I call olivia? Or Ivor?" He asked, resting his feet on the coffee table. "I want to see what happens first before disturbing any of them." I said. He nodded. "Do you want to go to bed?" He asked, gesturing towards the hallway. "I have an extra room." he mentioned. "I don't think I can sleep with all of this going on." I muttered. "Well, we can watch TV. Whatever is on." I nodded, and he grabbed the remote, browsing through all the channels. He settled on a documentary about cats - what would you expect from Lukas - and he sat next to me. I felt my eyelids drooping; after days of not sleeping since we were out exploring it had taken its toll on me. I hesitated before resting my head on his shoulder. He just smiled, wrapping his arm around me. I felt myself fading in and out, and fell asleep in the safety of Lukas's arms.

There was a high pitched noise, disturbing me from my restless sleep, riddled with nightmares. At once, I bolted upright, finding Lukas's arms wrapped around me. The noise was Petra screaming. It happened again, such a lost and afraid scream, I could only hope she wasn't dying. "Lukas, wake up!" I said loudly, shaking Lukas awake. He looked dazed but once he heard her scream he immediately got up. I clutched my hand around him, scared of what we would find. Nothing could prepare me for it.

Petra was doubled over on the floor, blood dribbling out of her mouth. She was deathly pale, clutching her stomach. Pain was etched on her face, and she barely acknowledged Lukas and I, convulsing violently. I rushed over to her, trying to prop her upright, because whatever she has, I'd risk getting sick any day - I can't stand seeing her in pain. At all. I propped her against the wall, instructing her to calm down and breathe slowly. She gave the slightest of nods, the rapid rise and fall of her chest slightly decreasing as she did her best to calm down. I saw her body jerked forward, her hands flying to her face as she coughed into her hands. When she pulled them away, she was horrified, blood speckled throughout her hands.

This is where she's going to die.
